Rodos Village - Rhodes

Advantages: Family friendly, all inclusive, next to beach
Disadvantages: Insects in rooms, no cash machine, not enough toilets

Last week I came back from a holiday in Greece. We went to Rhodes and stayed in the Rodos Village in Kiotari. The Rodos Village is a 5 star all-inclusive resort which is situated in the east west coast of the island. We took a taxi from the airport to the hotel (this was a pre-paid transfer from our holiday provider) The taxi took around an hour to get to the hotel. Since our flight was overnight, we arrived at the airport at 4.45am, so it was great to hop into a taxi and get to the hotel quicker than the coach would have taken. We got to the hotel at around 6am. There are not only steps up to the hotel, but also a ramp. It was quite steep but it meant that I could wheel my bag up instead of carrying up the steps (always good if you're tired!) Check in was quick. Review of Rodos Village, Rhodes

Uruguay or U-Ru-GUay

Advantages: Really nice museums to keep you engaged with the city
Disadvantages: The constant meat you are meant to eat

This review is about my trip to Uruguay in January 2008. About Uruguay ------------------- Well Uruguay is situated in South America and is squashed between Brazil and Argentina. The country has only got 3.5 million people who live there and that is all so overall the country is rather tiny in population size. The country has a Presidential government and the most popular language is Spanish. The capital city is Montevideo and it is also the most populated as well with over 1.5 million people living there. Weather ------------- In Uruguay they have weather very similar to our weather just not as wet. In January when I went to visit the weather was extremely warm and was hitting on average around 33c each day and in the evenings there was a much cooler breeze and temperatures dropped to around 16c. If you go ...

Review of Montevideo

Advantages: few
Disadvantages: some

Montevideo is the capital city of Uruguay and gives hospitality to more or less the 50% of the inhabitants of the whole Uruguay. Montevideo is a modern city that includes also the historic zone of the old city. All around the city there are many beaches with their white sands. The old city, called "CIUDAD VIEJA", is scattered with buildings dated 18th century and includes also the market called "MERCADO DEL PUERTO". "AVENIDA 18 DE JULIO" (18 July Avenue) is the right place to find shops, museums, theatres and art galleries. In 1799 the Royal Crown of Spain ordered the construction of a lighthouse able to illuminate the waters of Rio della Plata and to guide the sailors that plough through this river. The first construction was a building to house the workers of the lighthouse that is now called "Casa del piloto de la Vigia ...
