Everyone that gets a parrot as a pet always expects that Parrot to talk, when in reality sometimes parrots never talk. The Best talkers are: Quaker Parrots, which are a smaller variety of parrot and are sometimes called parakeets, are very good talkers and can pick up conversation very quickly without much teaching. African gray parrots are another good talker, they will pick up just about anything they hear, so be careful what you say! Macaws and cockatoos are good talkers also, but I own a macaw, I have had her for three years now, and I have never heard her say a word. Alot of the time it just depends on the birds personality. Double Yellow head Parrots are good mimics and also they like to sing. I owned a cockatoo once that had a large vocabulary, sang, danced, screamed at the kids to come in and laughed. Sometimes that bird made up for the birds that didnt talk. Parrots are quite intelligent and become just one of the family. They usually bond more to one person than all the other people in the family. Our Macaw has bonded to my Husband and really doesnt want much to do with me until he is gone , then Im her best friend. Even though Im her second choice, I love her and respect her greatly.

Advantages: Good location, good choice of drinks, good jukebox Disadvantages: Very busy at weekends, lack of seating
The frog and parrot located on Division street is one of the best pubs located in the city centre. It has a good jukebox with a selection of music ranging from U2 to house and cheesey pop to Rage against the machine and metal to Goth. The pub has a nice atmosphere although can get busy with students in the evening and weekend. The clientel tend to be a mix ranging from students and clubbers to rockers.
The pub has a large screen TV to watch the football on which is a bonus for football fans.
The pub has a 2 level seating arrangement, when busy tho there never seems to be enough seats which can be a pain.
The pub has a good selection of normal ales, as well as home brewed ones and other weird guest ales. They also have a range of cocktales on offer and a selection of different flavoured absolute vodkas and vodka jellies.
There is ...
Advantages: Great day out, interesting, Orca show Disadvantages: Expensive!
piranhas, and a fantastic turtle.
The dolphin show is also well worth watching and the dolphins do some clever tricks, most of them involving jumping and them doing flips. The other shows available are the sealion show - which is similar to all other sealion shows and also a parrot show but this was only in Spanish which was a bit of a letdown! Loro Parque also has the largest collection of parrots in the world and these are dotted around the park in cages which are quite small to be honest. Most of the animals have nice environments to live in though and have space to move around e.t.c
For little children there is a small adventure playground with some slides and some climbing things for children 10 and younger. Nearby there is a rollercoaster which you have to pay 1 euro to use! There is also a cafe here and they sell all sorts of food ...
I have probably visited the Rat and Parrot around five times and always whilst waiting to get a coach from the
Victoria coach station which is just opposite. To be frank I do not rate this pub very highly. It seems to me
to lack a convivial atmosphere ,its decor is uninspiring and it is more like a transit lounge or an extension
of the coach station than a traditional English pub.
The place does not seem to have many locals but attracts hordes of bored coach passengers who just want
to spend half an hour before catching their coach. Many of the customers are loaded up to high heaven with
bags, cases and rucksacks and it can be difficult to find a place to sit down
The bar staff seem to be guys from the Antipodes earning a few quid before setting off back to Aussie or
perhaps a holiday in the Greek Islands. I cant really blame ...
