Advantages: If you take it as being jocular, it's quite amusing in places. Disadvantages: Creepy to the upmost!
and this album certainly isn't offering that!
Marks out of 10: 3 - I'm just about bored out of my mind by this point. An up-tempo track could well save this album from getting one star.
8. I've Been There Before (3.53)
The aptly titled track, 'I've Been There Before', is nothing short of dire. I'm not even going to try and hide my distain anymore. I just can't comprehend any of this song, as hard as I try; it just fails to make sense.
The constant conflict I have with this entire album is that, whilst the lyrics are almost heartfelt cries for help, or for a new lover who actually cares, it just doesn't fit in with the cheesy backing track and breathless vocals of O'Brien. It comes across as being a desperate attempt at making money.
Marks out of 10: 3 - the sad thing is that whilst the lyrics to this are very emotional, they are ...
Advantages: Pretty selection of chocolates. Disadvantages: Very disappointing chocolates, excessive packaging.
Review of Lily O'Brien's Desserts Collection chocolates.
My partner and I received a box of Lily O'Brien's The Dessert Collection chocolates at Christmas. We put them to one side and only opened them a day or two ago. I had never encountered Lily O'Brien confectionery before so was intrigued to try chocolates modelled on popular desserts.
The Product
The chocolates are presented in an oblong box with a classy gold sleeve decorated with graffiti style stars. The product name and details are printed within a large star and images of the chocolates appear beneath the description. Ingredients and nutritional values are located on the rear of the wrapper.
On sliding off the gold outer wrapper the actual box is revealed. This is wrapped in cellophane. The lid of the box is brown and cream in colour and bears the product ...
Advantages: Still the most beautiful city in the US Disadvantages: Hurricane Katrina
Reading the other site reviews, it seems like all of them were probably written before Hurricane Katrina did its job on NewOrleans. I've been back there several times since the storm, and have a few thoughts.
I myself am an expatriate New Orleanian. Born and raised there, I've lived away for several decades, but still have ties and visit occasionally. As it happened, one of those visits was on the weekend before Hurricane Katrina hit. I've been back three times since then, and have seen the city slowly put itself back together.
There's no sugar coating it: Katrina did a number on the city. The house I grew up in was lucky: it was on the edge of the flood zone (which covered nearly the entire city, except for the older parts of town hugging the Mississippi River), and so only (only!) had four feet (1.3 meters) of flooding ...
