Situated in the heart of the Old Historic center of Quito, Ecuador (South America) and ... more
surrounded by churches, museums, and national monuments, the Hotel Patio Andaluz is a marvelous building of Colonial origin, which offers every guest an experience not unlike returning back in time. The walls whisper their stories of rich antiquity, while more contemporary furniture speaks of progress and comfort. From delicately ornate arches and wide corridors to romantic balconies and towering attics, the Hotel Patio Andaluz is an architectural feat that begs the attention of the eyes, and tugs at the heart. Guests will enjoy Spanish and local specialties in the hotel restaurant, as well as in the tapas bar. Other attractive features include a comfortable hotel library, a relaxing spa treatment area, and an artisan boutique. The Guestrooms are distinguished and inviting, with hard wood floors, vaulted ceilings, original works of art and fresh picked flowers. A careful juxtaposition of 16th century architecture and modernamenities is a difficult task, however the Hotel Patio Andaluz demonstrates a tremendous capacity for succeeding in this regard. All guestrooms feature colonial Spanish style headboards, entertainment armoires and chiffoniers, each replete with individual character and alive with tradition. Latin work desks with antique lamps, color televisions, and large windows provide feelings of warmth and familiarity in a home like manner that few hotels can replicate.

We were, in any case, rather churched out by this time; I haven't mentioned more than half the ones we paused to peek inside, for fear of this review becoming a mere catalogue of Quito's numerous ecclesiastical establishments. So, instead, it was back down the Calle Garcia Moreno - known locally as the "street of the seven crosses"; yes, you've guessed, from the crosses outside the seven churches that front onto it - to our hotel, the PatioAndaluz. As its name implies, the hotel occupies an old building arranged in the traditional Andalucian pattern around internal courtyards, which are now filled with the restaurant and bar. Very comfortable it is too, and conveniently just round the corner from the Plaza Grande, with plenty of other places to eat near at hand if you don't mind venturing out after dark. There is ...

Advantages: pleasant climate, lots to see, bustling with local activity Disadvantages: usual big city issues - traffic, smog, beggars, street vendors
Quito is the capital of Ecuador and stands almost 3,000 metres high on a plateau nestled among the Andes mountain range. It is just 22 km south of the Equator and yet, because of its height, it benefits from a warm eternal spring-like climate. It is a large and sprawling urban mass that is split into the two distinct areas of old city and new city. This produces a place of startling contrasts – a strange mixture of old colonial and new contemporary architecture, streets populated equally with wealthy businessmen and poor beggars, noisy bustling markets separated by quiet parks and streets, upmarket fashion and souvenir shops contrasting with impoverished street stalls. There are many attractions here including the huge Virgin of Quito who looks down over the city from her lofty position on Panecillo Hill. The views from here are ...

Advantages: Easy application. Disadvantages: Won't work on really awful stains. Fishy smell.
Plus:- No scrubbing.
Minus:- Fishy stink. Doesn't work if your patio is REALLY bad. .
I'm doing the garden up at the moment. I go through phases of doing up the garden, it looks all nice for a while so I take my eye off the ball and before I know it, the weeds have taken over and it looks a complete mess again.
Anyway, I'm currently busy growing fruit, veg, herbs and so forth aswell as re-painting the fence panels and shed, putting slate chips hither and thither and then I realized how skanky the patio slabs and little border walls were looking. Some were their original creamy stone colour and others were various shades of green to grayish-black. In the past I've set to with hot water, disinfectant and a stiff broom?..and got covered in nasty flick-back so when I saw a bottle of Patio Magic for sale in Wilkinsons for £7 ...
