Shall we go on a boat lads? he asks, before exhaustion sets in. One "yes please!" and two grunts in reply - off we went to the harbour. A very patient, sympathetic spanish sailor type issued the tickets costing approximately £20.00 in total and we went to queue for the boat. They leave every hour or so, so it may be neccessary to check boarding times. After negotiating the gang plank with pushchair, bags galore and three very excited youngsters, we decided to sit on the upper deck so as to enjoy the sea air. the crossing only takes about 30 minutes, and the view of Benidorm from the sea is breathtaking, with the mountains framing the whole area. After disembarking on the tiny island there are a few choices of what to do. As it was almost lunchtime, we decided to re-fill rumbling stomachs before exploring. The restaurant is very popular with the locals as the food is excellent. We chose a range of sea food eaten with local bread and the children were spoilt for choice with burgers, chips, pizza etc on offer. The cost was suprisingly good value for money and we didn't have to wait long for our lunches at all. Bellies filled, we decided to venture on to the "submarine" part of the trip which is included in the price. This is a boat where the hull is below the water level with only glass separating you from the sights of the sea and its inhabitants. I found this 20 minute trip a little claustrophobic, but was amazed at the thousands of fish swimming around us. As the island is a nature reserve, many divers explore the waters and it was very amusing for the boys to see people swimming alongside their windows!! The whole experience was almost too much for our 2 year old, who entertained the whole party by constantly marvelling at the fish, with shouts of "Nemo! Nemo!" as the shoals swam back and forth! Back on terra firma, we then set out up the rocky path to see the peacocks and other feathered friends. We found the pushchair a bit of a nuisance and wished we had left it behind on this day's trip. The paths are as nature intended!! On returning to the little harbour to await our passage back to the high life of Benidorm, the children were fascinated by the numerous people diving off the rocks and enjoying the sunshine. All in all, the trip was a great success and I would recommend it to anyone - just one tip, don't bother with a pushchair, you really don't need one and be prepared to laugh your socks off if you have little ones on the "submarine" with you!!
Advantages: plenty to do, sun, sea Disadvantages: no disadvantages
and dolphins. They have shows here as well. We went to see the sealion show and the dolphin show and both were really good.
There are boat trips to different places like Altea, which is just out of benidorm and to peacockisland and to the calpe as well. We went on the boat to PeacockIsland where you can see Peacocks in a big cage. They do a tour of this island too but we just looked round ourselves and so did most people. There is also a cafe on this island where they sell food, alcoholic drinks and non alcoholic drinks. The boot we went on to PeacockIsland was a big boat and when we got there we all went to the bottom of the boat to look at all the fishes.
We went to Altea which is just out of Benidorm and went on the bus to get there as we did not get up in time to get the boat there. This is a small place compared to Benidorm and has ...

everything from bedbugs disliking lanolin, to the effects they say static has on sleep patterns.
This sales pitch took around 50 minutes, but they have free wine and orange juice while you wait :-p and toilets were available.
I'm sure you can imagine the cost implications of hiring a coach to carry 60+ people around for the morning on the hope of a sale or two, so to put you out of your misery, a full set of bed linen was in the region of £1100, and one of their beds was round £400 "made from special NASA developed Heliocell" which came vacuum packed and had to be left for 48 hours after you unpack it.

10 Euros each, and you have to make your own way into Benidorm and get to the harbour. It consists of a 20 minute boat ride each way, and about 10 minutes in a bright yellow semi submersible "submarine" which ...

Advantages: A good all round holiday destination. Lovely places nearby and excellent climate. Disadvantages: Has a bad reputation with some people. I'm NOT there now and it isn't fair!
hardware shops ~ you can buy them in your hotel or apartment shops too, but they can be overpriced .
WHAT IS THERE TO DO?
There?s so much to do, we didn?t want to go home last time we visited ~ and it was just as good this time.

Sightseeing around Benidorm~~~
A lot of people tend to spend their days round the pool or on the beach ~ we like to explore and visit other places. The days we spent in Benidorm itself saw us walking for miles. We explored the modern part of Benidorm, walked along the beach and went around the Old Town too. There is a lovely viewing platform on the promontory that separates the New and Old Parts of Benidorm; it gives great views of the nearby PeacockIsland and of both bays. The Old Town has a pretty white church and even the Library (we are very sad and have to look at other people ...
