Hilton Dahab - good 5* hotel with nice beach and lagoon

Advantages: Luxurious, watersports, great lagoon, good food
Disadvantages: Extra food and drinks expensive, no snorkelling in lagoon

The Hilton Dahab is a fairly green hotel spread across the Dahab coastline. There is a nice golden sand beach, although it is too hot to walk on without shoes in summer, so I would recommend buying some beach/swimming shoes from the hotel shop. The lagoon in lovely for swimming and very walm, although there is little in terms of marine life. There is a dive centre (sinai divers) which can arrange diving and snorkelling trips and courses. We were on Half board, which was a good deal as you could have a pizza or snack for lunch on the beach (expensive)! The breakfasts are hilton standards (fantastic) and the buffet dinners are also good. There is a games room with billiards and table tennis which you can hire. The rooms are in blocks, and are very comfortable, as you would expect from a 5* hotel. There may be an amount of walking to ...

Review of Hilton, Dahab

Dahab

Advantages: Beautiful Red Sea Resort. Similar to Sharm El Sheikh but a much more reasonable price, more atmosphere.
Disadvantages: Street traders/ hawkers may annoy some people. To me, all part of the experience.

I stayed here for a week whilst on a bigger tour of Egypt. Beautiful place; incredible scenery and excellent opportunities for Scuba diving / snorkelling at the world famous "Blue Hole" where the sea life will take your breath away. I found Dahab to have more atmosphere than Sharm El Sheikh but it depends what you're looking for. Dahab tends to attract a younger, less-family type crowd, back-packer types and has the laid-back attitude to match. Facilities range from basic to much more luxorious; you get what you pay for. By night, the fish restuarants and coffee shops "bedouin style" are excellent value and very tasty. Avoid the local alcohol though; it tastes pretty lethal. An excellent base for trips into Sinai, up Mount Catherine and I highly recommend the Safari to the Coloured Canyon. Dahab is excellent value for money ...

Review of Dahab (Egypt)

A String of Pseudo Pearls

Advantages: Excellent backing tracks, competent vocals, a couple of strong pop hits
Disadvantages: Not much in the way of soul, some dull tracks, all rather dated now

that ? cassette tapes weren?t cheap back then and we didn?t have a lot of money so we tended to record it one week and tape over it the next week, but you get the idea I am sure. From this my love of pop music grew and to this day I still listen to pop songs from the 70s ? and the early 70s in particular ? as there is something I find very appealing about them and the overall musicality of them. One group from this era was the Pearls ? who were basically two fairly nondescript looking female singers with fairly nondescript voices who turned up on "Top of the Pops" occasionally. "Top of the Pops" was as unmissable to me as the chart run down on Radio 1 was. At the time I took this group at face value ? to me they sang pop songs which were simple and similar in style to some of the girl group songs of the 60s that I occasionally heard ...
