An encounter with an authentically Eastern taste experience. Tastes which are hot or mild, sweet or sour, intense or velvity. An acquaintance with the ancient mysteries of Cantonese cuisine. In the middles of the lively strip of Ipsos, high up wit a view of the sea, sky, moon and stars is Peking House, with its extensive red balcony suspended in the air.
Advantages: Cheap, good atmosphere Disadvantages: Old and in need of a tidy up
...Coral Hotel, Roda Corfu
INTRO
Not knowing where to go for hols this year we decided to convert our Tesco vouchers and go for a free holiday. The one place that always seemed to come up was the Corel Hotel in Corfu.
All the pictures and info on the net pointed to a good family run hotel in a nice area of Corfu.
LOCATION
The hotel is situated on the outskirts of RODA which itself is about an hour and a half from Corfu Town and the airport.
The hotel itself is literally a small stones throw from the beach. Alas that's a pebble beach but its still right on the sea. When we arrived I was pleasantly surprised at the location. There's about a 10 mile stretch of water between Corfu and the mountains of Albania. Stick all of this together and you have nothing short of a fantastic location.
THE HOTEL

Advantages: see opinion Disadvantages: see opinion
...I'm not sure if I'll be able to keep this op on the subject of the island of Corfu, mainly because of the goings on in our holiday accommodation, but I'll try. My husband had a habit of winning the work competitions where the prizes were holidays, so the operators had already been chosen for us, otherwise I'm not sure I'd have booked with them. Not because I think there's anything wrong with them, but they are watersports specialists and I'm one of the world's greatest armchair spectators. Still, we weren't tied to the club, we were free...

Advantages: Great all-round Family Holidays Disadvantages: N/A
...If you want an amazing family fun-filled holiday then this is the place to go. Myself, my husband and two children went there in August of last year. The journey from the Airport was around an 1 1/2 hours, but it was scenic and not to much of a strain. On arrival, the booking in was quick and straightforward and they were very welcoming to us, giving us maps of the Corfu Plaza, welcome packs and other literature to explain the whole scenario to us. The entrance itself was very large and very grand, comprising of a large seating area, a large bar, telephones and information points, and a great deal of brouchures on the resort itself and outings we could take whilst there.
Everything Thomsons had stated in their brochure was spot on with a few hidden extras on arrival.
On entering our one-bedroom apartment we were amazed at how...

I first found this book after reading up on the Richard and Judy Summer Reads 2007, and after loving some of the other books on their list, I decided I would try this one. This isn't normally the kind of book I would go for, but I really liked the blurb... more
