The Pefkos beach road is a 300 metre up hill walk to the main village where there are even more shops and places to eat. And if you want to walk another 5 minutes you will find two really nice chinese restaurants and an Indian as well.

The island of Rhodes does lack one thing, and that is really nice sandy beaches. Most of them, including nearby Lardos and even the beaches of Faliaraki are a little stony and containe a good deal of shingle. Pefkos beach however is one of the best on the island for clean golden sand and clear shallow water that is ideal for families. For about 8 Euros you can hire two sunbeds and umbrella for the whole day. The sunbeds do really dominate the beach which is only about 400 metres long and no more than 20 metres deep, so there is very little room for you to just arrive with your towel under your arm and lay where you want. If you are content to lie relaxing in the sun and go for a really refreshing swim in calm shallow waters then this is the beach for you. If however you are into beach volley ball, frisbee, a game of footy or want to kick a ball around then this is probably not the place for you as there just isnt the room. The amenities around the beach more than make up for the negative of lack of space on the sand. There are a multitude of Tavernas, restaurants and snack bars offering a huge range of food and drinks for all agaes and tastes. The Pefkos beach road is a 300 metre up hill walk to the main village where there are even more shops and places to eat. And if you want to walk another 5 minutes you will find two really nice chinese restaurants and an Indian as well. At night Pefkos really comes alive and has excellent night life, mostly at the famous 'Pefkos by night' bar. But if the really young and loud crowd is not for you then I can highly recommend the little known 'Kelari Bar' which is actually half way down the Pefkos beach road. Affordable and deliscious cocktails, good music and a beautiful garden lined with lemon and olive trees. To summarise the beach does get very crowded, not only because it isn't huge but also because Pefkos is hugely popular. A holiday based in Pefkos will be a holiday enjoyed and remembered.
