We have stayed here a couple of times on airline stopovers, as part of the all-in deal.
The hotel's name is due to that fact that it was originally two hotels which they knocked into one, and kept both names. For this reason it is housed in two tall twin towers.
It's a big hotel with 580 rooms, and is busy all the time. Everything ran smoothly with our stay, and there was no problem with the room, which was completely normal, comfortable, and unremarkable for a hotel of that type - a medium priced range big city Singapore hotel. En suite - tea and coffee making - TV, aircon, etc....
The hotel has a wide range of facilities as you'd expect, including laundry service, moneychanger, etc. One interesting aspect of the hotel is the swimming pool. It is off the foyer, and is glass sided so you can see the people swimming as you sit.
Another good best feature is the view from the the higher storey rooms. From our window we could see a fascinating blend of old and new Singapore - from tall office blocks to low and quaint Victorian era colonial churches, white painted and carefully preserved.
But the best aspect of the hotel is its excellent location. Within easy walking distance are a number of Singapore's excellent features - the Clarke Quay and Boat Quay, various Museums, and a number of good shopping centres such as Raffles City and the Funan IT Mall - great if you want anything to do with computers. This is right next door.
The hotel has its main restaurant, Coleman's Cafe, but in Singapore it's great to explore all the eateries in the area - and there are a lot round here including a food court in the basement of the Funan IT Mall, and a McDonalds near the entrance.
Offering fabulous views of the harbour, city skyline and the magnificent Singapore River, the newly renovated Peninsula-Excelsior Hotel offers a warm welcome to guests and the best in traditional hospitality.
