Advantages: Convenient for Pompeii Disadvantages: AC? What AC? Room was like an oven.
We were planning to visit Pompeii but finding a decent hotel close by was as easy as excavating these ancient ruins with a teaspoon. So Naples it was.
The Holiday Inn looked perfect for our needs - on the edge of the city towards Pompei and easy access from the autostrade. When I say easy access, I mean 'in theory'...on a map...in my wildest dreams etc. The Holiday Inn is situated in a modern development of high-rise offices and commercial properties called Centro Direzionale directly connected to a link road from the A1 autostrade. But, this being Naples, where stock car racing is not only the principal hobby, it's downright de rigeur, it proved a little more tricky than directed from the hotel's web page. Advantages: The world famous Duomo -must go Disadvantages: No
The must-go place in Florence is the Duomo which seats right in the centre of the city. It forms the city's skyline and it's also the symbol of the city. . The legendary duomo is famous for its dome: Brunelleschi's Renaissance masterpiece, completed in 1436, created a double dome shell so that the dome is entirely self-supporting. The frescoes inside the dome depict the Last Judgement. and it's one of the most fantastic religious painting I've ever seen. Personally I've been a a lot of churches in Europe but the painting inside this church is definitely my favourite.
Next to the Duomo is the Baptistery, one of the oldest architectural monuments of the city, which is also famous for its
"Gates of Paradise", made of gold. ...

It is not easy to find the house
We arrived in Dubrovnik in the evening. We were tired and it was dark. The navigation system showed us a road which was forbidden for the car. I get out of the car, took the navigation system in my hands and started to follow the commands. I was really surprised when I saw that to reach the address I had to climb at least 100 steps. I didn't have any choice and I climbed the steps. After climbing all the steps, I understood that this was not the right street. I went down and I tried the next street with the same number of steps... :-) After the third try I found the street which was at least 200 steps far of the car.
At the end we found the address and we parked in fornt of the house in front ...
