We were wrong. The only reason we didn't blow our tops was because we didn't pay the full, peak rate! But we were still rather annoyed.
The lodge itself was small and seemed dingy on arrival. We were disappointed, but tried to carry on thinking we would get used ... ...better as we thought of it as a place to just sleep and we would be out all day anyway.
Then the bites began! My husband and I were getting bitten every night and this could only be due to bugs in the bed. Fortunately my 20 month old daughter was in her own travel cot and did not get bitten though the uncleanliness and dustiness caused her eczema to break out (which quickly subsided once home).

Some are owned by Penstowe themselves, some are purchased freehold privately and some purchased leasehold.
There is accomodation in the Manor House itself which although I have been there many times I have never seen these apartments.

Advantages: Location Disadvantages: Site Management
...for you and your family. Penstowe has no atmosphere and no staff, don't get me wrong there is a woman that can be occasionally found, but everyday you are greeted by a hand written sign on the office/reception door telling you of her unavailability. Oh, but I mustn't forget her husband who is on hand to shout at you if you come looking for any assistance. The toilet/shower block was not cleaned for three days. We did find the elusive site owner to complain and were told there would not be a delivery of soap for a week so we suggested that she could buy some from the local shops, but she said that would be unhygienic. Yes she really was that mis ...
