Pentewan Sands is a Holiday Park which is situated in a beautiful location near to Pentewan Village, The Lost Gardens of Heligan, and Mevagissey.
*~* Arrival and Accomodation *~* Upon arrival you will need to go into the reception with all of the relevant booking confirmation and paperwork. The staff will book you in. If you arrive at night, there is a holding area opposite the site on the right hand side, which is available for overnight parking. If staying in your own caravan/tent, you will be able to get straight onto your pitch. However, if you are staying in one of the static caravans of the log cabins - you will probably not be able to get into your accomodation until around 2.30 - 3.00, due to the cleaners (sometimes we have been lucky and it's been earlier, but more often than not these are the times) - don't despair though as there are plenty of facilities on site to keep you entertained while waiting.
The pitches for your own tent/caravan are decent sized - you have enough room for your tent/caravan, a car, windbreaks and an outdoor table!
If staying in one of the park's static caravans, you will not be disappointed. The interior offers beds for the whole family, luxury furniture, electric shower, toilet, 9 channel television, dvd player, microwave, cooker and fridge. Outside their is parking space for your car - we managed to fit two cars outside (one being a big L200, so this shows how much room there is).
*~* How To Get There *~*
From the main A30 into Cornwall, take the A391 turning into St. Austell. When you get into St. Austell follow the signposts for Mevagissey on the B3273. Eventually the site will appear on your left, before climbing the hill into Mevagissey.
*~* Facilities *~*
The park has it's own private beach. I cannot fault this at all. The sea is a gorgeous blue colour, the sand is golden and there are plenty of rock pools around to amuse all of the family. There are bannana boat and doughnut rides, which you can book to go on - i have never had the courage too, as i'm not very good on boats, however, from friend who have been on them i do believe that they can offer hours of fun! There is also a slipway for launching your own boats on.
There are plenty of facilities on site to amuse the children. One of these is a park situated on the beach - there is a climbing frame, a slide, and swings). Other facilities include the tennis courts, arcade and kid's club.
When we went last year, the site had the beach club. However they are now renovating this, and in 2010, will have the new 'Seahorse Centre'. This will include two indoor heated swimming pools, a gym (while eating all of your holiday food, you can also keep yourself fit :-) ), a restraunt, bars and an activity centre. During peak season, the evening entertainment includes games and shows for the children, bingo, and then adult entertainment later on in the evening.
Other facilities include a laundrette (so you can keep on top of all your washing), an on site shop (this provides all the essentials needed for your stay and gifts to take home for friends and family), toilet and shower blocks, a takeaway, and also payphones to phone home. There is also a WI-FI connection available in the Seahorse centre.
*~* My thoughts *~*
Overall, i would recommend this park to any families or young couples. The site is very well maintained. I have been visiting here with my parents since i was around 4 years old, and i have never once had a bad holiday, i have always thoroughly enjoyed it.
For any elderly couples who would like quieter accomodation, there is the sister site Heligan Woods, which is about 10 minutes drive up the road. Here you can still have access to the entertainment and facilities provided on the Pentewan site. You can also take dogs to Heligan Woods in some of the static caravans (this is a new thing that they have just added).

Advantages: A family run camp with it's own private beach and excellent facilities . Disadvantages: Maybe price . I think it's reasonable , but thay's my opinion.
