Cornwall and the West of England - I have the best and most exciting memories of this place.

In and around Penzance you can discover lots of lovely aspects of the English countryside. Itīs on Cornwalls penninsula that is most west, and so itīs just a short distance to Landīs End with its seaside attractions and the fantastic rocks you can climb down until you really are at the edge of England!
Itīs a brilliant starting-point for hikers as well as a family-friendly holiday location. You can use the coastal paths all around and have fantastic views on the coastline and the sea.
Getting around is easy: walk, take a bike, rent a car or use the marvellous public transport system. If you bring along a bit of time (because the busses donīt run every 5 minutes) get a regional transportation ticket and go everywhere you want by bus. There are no motorways, no dense traffic, no dirt, no spoilt landscape. Just nature, nice houses, small villages and very friendly people. And: itīs the end station of the railway. Youīll at least 4 hours from London or more if you get there by train...
You also can go to places that are filled with the mystery of Celtic tradition: Glastonbury (already in Somerset) was the place where King Arthur was said to be buried, Tintagel on the North Coast of Cornwall was the place where he apparently had his castle. Below the castle is a cave filled with water in high tide, but empty at low tide. you can even marry there in celtic costumes! In Tintagle you can also see the oldest postoffice in Britain. And itīs not far to Dorset (Hardyīs county).
A MUST is St. Micheals Mount , the equivalent to Mont St.Michel on the French side. Go there by boat and walk (!!) back in low tide - or vice versa. An unforgettable experience.
My tip: use the local tourist guides. Take a bus-trip to all the places you want to see, no stress, no parking problems, and they take you easily to any nice place you want to see for reasonable money. I did several tours from Penzance, and all were well guided and without stress.
If you want to stay at a noble place go to the Tabert Hotel and Restaurant, a Georgian House from the 18th century. Youīll leave a lot of money there, but itīs a good location for seeing the Isles of Scilly as well (ferry, Heliport nearby).
My tip: go to the harbour for sunrise. Take a good cup of coffee/tea with you, some buns and sit down at the harbour to watch the sun come up. Youīll never forget Penzance.
And: donīt forget the Cornish Cream Tea in the afternoon....... who thinks about calories? Me not being there.... ;-)
Advantages: Very Good Place, Relaxing, Cheap Disadvantages: None-I love cornwall
...west of the uk, and Penzance is right down the bottom. There is lot to do in Penzance. You can walk to Marizion and check out St Michaels mount, chill on the beach, go shopping, go to the cinema or just relax in many of the cheap places to stay. I would reccommend that you went to penzance in the summer rather than the winter as there is a lot more to do. ...

Advantages: Ideal centre for touring, inexpensive town to stay in. Disadvantages: Penzance itself not typical of the beautiful Cornish towns.
, perched on the edge of the sea, where the delights of Shakespeare can be enjoyed in the balmy evening air. Lands End is just a few miles away..a site of breathtaking rugged beauty.
A short drive from Penzance you will find St Ives. Unspoilt by the passage of time, apart from the new Tate Gallery maybe! The Barbara Hepworth museum is another "must" here!
Tin mines, Gold prospecting, the most beautiful beaches in the Country also await you. Try Hayle/Gwithian/Godrevy beach....over 3 miles of golden sands with the lighthouse at the North end. No crowded beaches here!!
In short, Penzance provides the ideal centre for exploring one of the best areas of England! Give it a try...I know youll be entranced with it!! ...
Advantages: Comfortable in a lot of ways Disadvantages: Expensive food!
of leaving the station. I was a bit peckish so I went for a wander to find it and was very impressed with the modern look and cleanliness of the shop.
The member of staff was again a friendly, helpful and cheery person with again a brilliant sense of humour. I purchased some sandwiches, biscuits and a drink and i was given a free bag of crisps because i was being wound up with jokes!
The food was fantastic and really tasty and im one for noticing artificial crap and the food was certainly worth the pricey tag.
Well it cost me around 5 pounds but i was happy with that for the quality and service i recieved.
