My husband and myself stayed in the Peppers Beach Resort and Spa in June 2008 for a week. We were getting married at St Mary's by the Sea which was very close to the hotel and obviously with it being our wedding we wanted something quite luxurious for that week. We entrusted our wedding planner with the bookings and she certainly didn't dissapoint.
THE ROOM
We stayed in a room with pool view, which was more like a brand new modern apartment. It had a living room area with sofa's and a large plasma television. This room looked out onto one of our balconies that had a BBQ (Well it wouldn't be a true Australian holiday without one would it!) We had fully equipped kitchen are with oven, hob, fidge/freezer and all the utensils you could ever need. The bedroom had a kingsize bed and another plasma television. The bedroom also had a balcony. The bathroom had a walk in shower with frosted glass wall. (whoever was in the bedroom could see the silhouette of the person in the shower, nice affect!) There was also a washer and dryer.
Everything was new looking, modern and very clean!
THE POOL
The pool was quite cold, but was truly beautiful. It had a waterfall and lapped up to a small man made beach. The sunbeds were large and very comfortable and you could always get one as the hotel didn't seem at all full. Probably because theres so much to do around Cairns and Port Douglas that hardly anybody spent any time in the hotel itself.
SURROUNDINGS
There's the beach which is a very short distance away and shops are a short walk too. But for the other activitiess e.g. rainforest walks, coc farm etc, it is definately advisable to have hired a car.
THE FEEL OF PORT DOUGLAS
We felt at home as soon as we arrived. People are extremely friendly and strangers will say "G'day" to you. When my horse and carraige came through the streets everybody was clapping and shouting congratulations! I couldn't see that happening back in England.
IN CONCLUSION
If you have the money or are planning on treating yourself for whatever reason, I would definately recommend Peppers Beach. You will not be dissapointed!
