The beautiful island of Perhentian Kecil (Small)
Review of Perhentian by depatra3

Advantages: Tropical weather, crystal clear water and white sandy beaches
Disadvantages: No public toilets in Perhentian Kecil and must go to your hotel!

...to hit the island of Perhentian Kecil. ----------------------------General Information-------------------------------- There are 2 islands in the Perhentian region: Perhentian Besar (the big Perhentian) and Perhentian Kecil (the small Perhentian). The islands are small, especially Perhentian Kecil. You can walk from one end to another, go jungle tracking to get to the other side. The commercial part of the island is the Long Beach. This is where ...
...(speed boat) to get to Perhentian Kecil from Kuala Besut (a jetty situated north of Kuala Terengganu, the capital of the state Terengganu). We flew to Kota Bharu (capital state of Kelantan) from Kuala Lumpur with the local cheap flight called AIR ASIA, which cost us just below 15 pounds (with tax!). Why not fly to Kuala Terengganu instead, since the port is located in Kuala Terengganu and not Kota Bharu? Well this is because although the jetty is ... Read review

Perfect Perhentians
Review of Perhentian by melanderson80

Advantages: quiet, beautiful, coral
Disadvantages: not easy to get there

...about my time on the Perhentian islands, it was amazing. I spent a tiring 2 weeks in the jungle and surrounding area before deciding at the last minute to make the journey to the small set of islands on the East coast of Malaysia for a few days rest. It was the best decision I have ever made. After enduring the bumpiest speedboat journey ever (the only way of getting to the unspoilt islands) we dropped off the majority of people at Kecil island (small) ...
...the two islands named Besar (large). The water was crystal clear and the coral was dazzling in the water. There is a upmarket resort on one side of the island which looked beautiful but we opted for the £5 beach huts! When you are surrounded by such a beautiful setting we did not plan on spending much time in the hut. The wooden rooms were clean but very basic. There is only water and electricity at certain times of the day, 7pm-7am which did not ... Read review

Marine Utopia
Review of Perhentian by divinekarma

Advantages: Sun, Sand, Sea!
Disadvantages: Food choice

Perhentian is divided to two islands, Perhentian Kecil (kecil=small) and Perhentian Besar (besar=big). My experiences were all at Perhentian Kecil. Now, if you're looking for unstressful days filled with sun-baking with a good book or snorkelling/diving to see the wonders of marine life, then you've come to the right place. The island is run by the locals, friendly Malaysians who earnstheir living by running chalets, restaurants and fishing. The ...
...you think that the beach is beautiful, wait till you get underwater! There are turtles, reef sharks (harmless unlike their ferocious cousins), stingrays and a whole lot of stuff you never knew existed! Adventure, fun, stress-free...go to Perhentian and you will definitely have a holiday to remember. I did. ... Read review
