The trip of a lifetime.

I have read all the guides and listened to opinions of friends who had been to Perth, Western Australia before. No ones opinion can prepare you for the true experience.
I’m an 18 year old and I went to stay with my uncle. I travelled with my mum and dad and my sister. I know it’s a bit sad at 18 going on holiday with your parents, but come on, this is Australia.

I left from Heathrow airport and travelled with Malaysian airways. I wasn’t quite sure what it would be like travelling with a company I’ve never heard of but Malaysian airways were as good as any. The food was not great however. A Snes was in front of me as well as that I had a pick of some top films. By the end of the journey I had completed Super Mario. There is something for everyone to do.

After 12 hours I arrived at Kuala Lumpar International airport. This was the cleanest airport and most empty I’ve ever been to. It is all marble and spotless. Credit to the architects for their original and superb design. 8 hours more flight and we arrived at Perth. The jet wheels down the coast and my first sight of Aus. 19oC, which is not bad for the winter. The winter in Perth is just like our summer. I wouldn’t like to battle the sun in their summer. You see dead kangaroos at the side of the road just as you would hedgehogs in England.

Our first evening was spent acclimatising with sleep the main priority. Jet lag took at least 24 hours to wear off.

Lynwood a suburb of Perth is full of POMS. I felt well at home. I stayed in a bungalow. Most Australians live in a bungalow. Apparently only the rich have two floors. The next 21 days was going to be of tours around Perth.

We all went on a bush walk one day to the outback. Everywhere in Aus is so brown. All the grass and leaves are all brown. The walk was at a place an hour’s drive from Perth called Kirrys track. This was great. There were no cars on the road and not a person in sight, which was often the case once you got out of the city. Australia is so big but has such a small population. There is a hell of a lot of wildlife about. The parrots just love humans as well. They just fly down and land on your shoulder. There were many waterfalls and streams. A fantastic sight. There would have been some snakes if I went in the summer but in the winter there is no snakes around. Australia is a beautiful place. I ate my lunch on the edge of a waterfall.

20 minutes from Perth was this Wild animal park. You are given a bag of food for the animals and you walk around or drive through the park. All sorts of animals follow you. Kangaroos are like rabbits in England. You see them all the time. It was fantastic driving down a street seeing a bunch of kangas in a field. There are black swans going about and koala bears, which are hard to get near. You don’t want to mess with a wild kangaroo. Some of them are massive. I saw a 6 foot one.

One day we went to Bunbury about 150 kms from the city. It took ages to get there but it didn’t bother me because the sights were superb. So many kangaroos it is unbelievable. A load of beaches were in site as we drove all the way down the coast. We went to Busselton, which is famous for having the longest pier in the southern hemisphere. You can travel down the longest pier on a train while the driver tells the longest jokes in the southern hemisphere. Locals are very friendly. People stop and talk to you as if they have known you for years. “ Alright how’s it goin mate?” “ That’s some shirt you got there mate.”

I went to the horse racing at Belmont Park, which is right in the city. It is superb. We had superb seats inside and admission was free. It would cost a fortune in England to have the seats we had. Dog racing and the trots was also something I enjoyed raking in the cash. The worst thing about Australia and probably the only bad thing is that there are 8 dogs in a race instead of six.

I visited Freemantle, which is a place you should visit. Most buildings were over 100 years ago. There is a market on Friday. It’s 45 minutes from Perth and it is famous for its water sports. You can tour the prison which looks pretty nasty or you can go to what I think is the best chip shop in the world. Cicerellos is the shop. Fish and chips in the largest portions and for little money.

In Perth there are many golf courses. The one I played was called Meadow Springs. It is between Perth and Mandurah. $35 a round, which is about £16. It is a PGA course and the best course I’ve seen and it has green grass. If you go to Australia you will miss the green grass. Just watch out for snakes if you hit your ball in a bush.

I went fishing in Mandurah and saw some Dolphins in the river. They are so elegant and fast. I caught a small brim which tasted beautiful once barbecued. Fishing is superb in Australia. You are guaranteed to catch a load of fish and some are huge. While everyone caught huge fish I caught a load of little brim. Annoyed I wasn’t hungry I was.

Chinese restaurants are popular in Australia. There are many of them, which is the reason why it is so cheap. The best food in the world for little money. In general Perth is very clean. There is little crime considering it is a major city and everyone is friendly and everything is so cheap. There are loads of bars, casinos and clubs in Perth. All great and all cheap. The thing I love must about Perth is the fact that everyone is so laid back. People hardly do any work. In London everyone is rushing around like mice where in Perth people just stroll all in good moods. I see no reason why they shouldn’t be in a good mood because they live in paradise and hardly work. Australia is the place I would love to live in. It’s a different world out there.

I would highly recommend people to visit Perth. With cheap hotels, Food and the way of living as well as the scenery the heat and the happy people Perth is the place to be.

WOW! What an excellent holiday & excellent opinion too. I would go on holiday with my parents if they went on one like this and I'm 26! I'd probably get a bit upset about all the dead kangas at the side of the road though! :-(
