Advantages: Great for familly and anyone wishing to get healthy and enjoy sport Disadvantages: Too far for me to go
~~RICHMOND OLYMPIC OVAL~~
The day before we were due to fly back from Canada, we decided to do a dry run to the airport to make sure we knew the route, as it would be the first time we did the route unaccompanied. Mom came with us and she asked if we would take her to see the newly build Richmond Olympic Oval; well you don?t have to ask me twice, I love visiting buildings both new and old ones, but I do prefer the older ones. So after a few hiccups we found ourselves at the Oval.
Richmond BC appears to be the ideal setting for such a sporting facility as the town claims to have the longest life expectancy and the lowest obesity rates in all of Canada, so where else would they launch a new sport and fitness centre, which will also host the speed skating and other events in the 2010 Winter Olympics and the Paralympics games ...
Advantages: Nice rooms, good service Disadvantages: Expensive, no facilities, distant from towns
i stayed in the Scotch Corner hotel for 2 nights while my girlfriend come up to visit me. Unless your staying here for business purposes then i would definately NOT recommend you to stay here.
The customer service is great, but the hotel facilities are definitaley over rated by the pictures. The swimming pool is barely open, the restaurant is expensive, unless you can drive you cannot get to the nearest town, the gym is also rarely open.
The bedrooms are to a good standard, yet even then they are made to look better on pictures. There is nothing to do what so ever in the hotel and can be very boring, especially with kids there.
Its a great hotel for meetings and conferences for business groups but not ideal for families or a nice weekend away.
I think the price is high for the hotel itself. ...
Advantages: Cheap accommadation and food but of reasonable quality Disadvantages: Everything shuts on a Sunday so if you are in a B&B make sure you stock up on grub
During a holiday to America I travelled to Richmond, Virginia and had a thoroughly enjoyable three days in this culturally and architecturally rich city.
Getting there:
Road: It is about 2-2 ½ hours drive from Washington
By Amtrak: Very comfortable and cheap but does not exactly provide a central dropping off point
By Greyhound: Cheap way of travelling but again it drops you on the outskirts of the city
By Air: Richmond airport is only really an option if you intend to pick up a car there as it is 10-12 miles outside the city
Accommodation:
Virtually all the accommodation in this city is very reasonably priced as it has a university and has to cater for students for when they first arrive. One useful facility was a central reservation line that could be called to book rooms in the participating hotels in the scheme. If you do ...
