Advantages: Location, value for money, free internet laptop usage Disadvantages: Not many hangers
many hangers but that would be my only gripe. Each of the rooms had the facility to be turned into a family room but the beds were discreetly folded up against the wall in all the rooms, sometimes behind a wardrobe area. There was free internet access and a laptop in each room which was useful once we discovered how to get @ on a Spanish keyboard (Alt/Gr plus the @ key).
I'd stayed right on the Ramblas once before but this was just far enough away to avoid the late night noise (except on the night when Barcelona beat Chelsea, ha!). Being so central the hotel is just near the Liceu metro station and within easy stretch of all the sights and shopping.
The street outside the hotel is pedestrianised but is only about 25 yards from Las Ramblas. We booked private transport from the airport and stopped on Las Ramblas but the driver helped ...

Over the last couple of years we've visited a few Zoos and Aquariums and it would be fair to say that Barcelona is one of the biggest Zoos. Like many Zoos these days they are signed up to the World Zoo conservation strategy and are committed to breeding programs for endangered species. Having opened for the first time in ...

Advantages: A wonderful way to spend the day. Disadvantages: During renovations some of the permanent galleries have been off-limits.
Originally opened to the public in 1914, the Royal Ontario Museum has always been a fascinating place to see beautiful and wonderful art treasures of the world, but now the museum itself has become one of Toronto's treasures of architecture with a recent $270 Million renovation by architect Daniel Libeskind. Known as the Michael Lee-Chin Crystal (a title bestowed mainly to recognize the main donation by the Chairman of Portland Holdings Inc, Michael Lee-Chin), the "ROM" (as the museum is known), has become a diamond in the golden up-market shopping band that is Bloor street.
Toronto is quite frankly not known for its stunning architecture and more often than not, city council is accused of approving projects that would look better submerged in Lake Ontario rather than erected on the streets of the city. However, both the ROM ...
