Now that the summer holidays are approaching slowly, I thought it is about time to tell you a little more about my hometown Varna ? especially since Bulgaria is becoming more and more popular as a destination among British tourists!
Varna is the biggest port town on the Bulgarian Black Sea coast and the third biggest town in Bulgaria with 350,000 inhabitants approximately. Varna does not only host a big port and an international airport, it is also a university town: There is a School of Economics, a tourism university, a technical university, a Med-school and a newly founded free university.

I've been to Varna twice now in 06 and enjoyed it immensely both times.
From the airport it is about a 10-15 min ride so be careful not to get over charged it should cost no more than £10 but as I found out some taxi men don't seem interested in taking you for that amount, and quickly move on to their next victim.
I was really lucky to find a taxi man called mikael who brought me to Varna free of charge and gave me his mobile no. in return for me using him for the rest of my stay .(I can give you his no. if you like).
For the first few nights I stayed in the Black sea hotel (cherne more hotel) when I checked in I was told there were no singles rooms left and I had to pay for a double room.This cost about £30 which I thought was ok untill I saw it!, to be honest the room looked like a bomb had hit it but i was just happy to get my ...

Varna - one of my favorites cities
I like to go in Varna because of the pleasant atmosphere. There is a big pedestrian zone with a lot of shops, restaurants and attractions. The children like the pop-corns and the ice cream.
There is a big and beautiful Sea Garden in Varna. There are small restaurants in the Garden near the Sea. You will have the pleasure to taste the fresh fish with beer and salad.
About the Dolphinarium
If you visit Varna, I recommend you that you spare the time for the interesting show in the Dolphinarium. The Dolphinarium is near the beautiful Varna's Sea Garden. So, after the show you may go for a walk and breathe the fresh sea air.
You may drink a coffee in the Dolphinarium and observe the dolphins. One of the walls of the coffe is from transparent glass and the dolphins pass from time ...
