Oddly enough you won’t find any mention of Petticoat Lane in an A to Z index. The prim and proper Victorians who wished to avoid reference to women’s underwear renamed it to Middlesex Street ... ...on the rails.

It is actually worth going East just for its entertainment value alone;however,you can also get most things in Petticoat Lane on a Sunday morning including sausages and
mash,jellied eels, and a steaming hot cup of char or tea. After you have adequately sustained yourself you can browse for the likes of cheap ... ...jackets, luggage ,jewellery, antiques, crafts,and bric-a-brac,in this very fascinating multi-cultural meeting ground. The asking price here is subject to some negotiation and the sharp-eyed shopper who is actually prepared to wrangle ,haggle and haggle some more can end-up getting a good deal. Petticoat Lane Market in Central London is probably the most famous market in London and certainly in the top 10 of the world's best markets. This is a busy ' hustle and bustle' market with plenty of stalls selling a very wide range of goods. Prices are always cheap and most of the time the goods are of reasonable quality. You will certainly be able to pick up a few bargains here.
A must visit for the overseas visitor to the UK as it is a typical ... ...Soak up the atmosphere and the whole ambiance of the place with a visit soon. It typifies all you would expect from a busy market.
I regularly shop here particularly at Christmas time, it does get very busy and you will need at least half a day to take it all in. ...

It first market I ever visited and the best. London life at it's best and most colourful, should be added as a major tourist attraction. Noisy and busy but I loved it. Bargains to be had on nearly every stall and the range of goods was amazing. Quality of goods were good and the food fresh. Also enjoyed well earned refreshments.Maybe not ideal for visiting with children or for those without good stamina but a real fun place to go, for value for money ...

Petticoat Lane is one of London's most famous markets. Everybody who is a market lover, will adore this one! Set in the East End of London, the nearest underground stations are Liverpool Street and Aldgate East. The Petticoat Lane market is open from 9am - 2pm on a Sunday. But the Wentworth Street market is open from monday through to Friday from 10am - 2:30pm.
'Petticoat' Lane was named because petticoats used to be a major fashion item for all ... ...I love the most about Petticoat Lane? Well, it's got to be the true East End Londoners! Their yelling, accent, and joking makes you feel you really are in a true London market. Bartering, is of course, what people love doing, and no-one can do it better than the Londoners themselves! On a nice day, you could quite easily spend a very long time here, and leave with bags full of stuff!
