Why PAL? Since embarking on my annual visit to the crazy, exciting, troubled, colourful and much-missed motherland last year, I chose to take the Philippines' national carrier, Philippine Airlines (PAL), once more for this year's trip. This, because of a most pleasant hop I had between ... Read review

Still Pampered by Asia's First Airline

Advantages: Food, service; clean, neat planes; up-to-date in-flight movies; excellent seats/legroom; smooth landings; Mabuhay lounge.
Disadvantages: Sometimes late (due to small fleet?); minuscule presence in Europe, none in US east coast.

...take the Philippines' national carrier, Philippine Airlines (PAL), once more for this year's trip. This, because of a most pleasant hop I had between Hong Kong and Manila. (The 17-hour flight from Chicago to Hong Kong was sheer agony in United Airlines' extremely tight seats and mediocre food in Economy class.) And its relatively cheaper fare (about $2430 for Business Class; ~ 2,000 EUR or 1,380 GBP) for a direct Los Angeles - Manila flight (with ...

In Business Class (and First Class), up-to-date movies can ... more

Quick review of Philippine Airlines

My mom & brother flight from SFO to Manila. All luggages where check-in all at the same time. By the time they get to Manila 1 luggage was missing which is critical because it is where my mom's prescription supply for 3 months for diabetic, high pertension and blood pressure pills. She only hand carry good for 3 days use since it is only about 12 hours flight. They call me to follow up here with the Airlines which I did. PAL can't even handle the simple process of transferring luggage. It is the airlines negligence. I go home yearly but almost 10 years I don't fly with PAL. I usually fly with Northwest or Japan Airlines. ...

bit of a shambles really

Advantages: er...some locals can have a job
Disadvantages: corruption, corruption and more corruption

was watching Dallas! ~Back to the Airport~ The original NAIA was damaged during a fire in 1981 and a new building was erected which is now NAIA-1 which is currently the main terminal. NAIA-1 is quite a dated airport now, and was due to be replaced with the new NAIA-3 last month, but more about that debacle later. NAIA services 25 Airlines & has 18 air bridges. NAIA-1 is Manila's main international terminal, which serves all non Philippine Airline flights, and was designed to cope with a capacity of 4.5 million passengers a year. In 1991 NAIA-1 reached its maximum capacity and that is how it has stayed since. ~Arrivals at NAIA-1~ Arriving at NAIA-1 is a bit of a shock, there is a lot of "red-tape" to go through, I use the inverted commas as the real situation is create pointless jobs for people so we can give them jobs. You ...

~~Absolutely Another Flight with AA is an option~~

Advantages: AA tries its best for the safety and comfort of the passengers
Disadvantages: Having old models of aircrafts

, Philippine Airlines and Northwest) which give me a wide range of selections for international travels. This time to make my decision faster, I chose first the travel agent and from there I automatically contacted them for quotation based from my two requirements. Finally, I had my verdict to fly with American Airlines (AA) from UK to the United States of America! ~~WHY AA? 1. Travel Agent's Promotional Package My travel to the US for the third time after 8 years from my last visit has a mix of emotions: fear of terrorist attacks and jubilant to meet my cousin and her family in California. With these feelings, it is really hard to choose what airline to bring me safe to Uncle Sam. The answer to this is my travel agent - STA Travel. I knew STA since I was temporarily residing in Australia in 2002. Having a good reputation for student fares, I ...
