Philippines Airport

Advantages: Helpful and friendly staff.
Disadvantages: Airport tax, Phonecards and Taxi Drivers

Been twice and really don't like it. First time I arrived in Centenial Terminal and was impressed. I flew in on Phil Air. Was greeted by helpful staff, although I had to call my wife to find out where she was. I had to buy a phonecard. Luckily I had some Pesos given by a friend, otherwise I would have had to buy an airport phonecard at 500pesos for use only in the airport phones. On departure you have to line up outside whichever terminal you are ...
...once inside you have to pay 750 departure tax. I don't know where it goes, but it is a little steep in my opinion. Airport facilities are mediocre, but it is a developing country. I didn't expect to find starbucks or a Yahoo internet lounge. Warning, always book a taxi in the transport office, don't flag one or be ripped off. ...

Balingheavenly

Advantages: still unspoiled area in Bora
Disadvantages: can't think of any

...the holidays. Thank God for Balinghai Beach though. It is one of those parts in "Bora" that have not been spoiled by a lot of tourists and goers yet. The area is still a lush virgin landscpae comprised of high overlookings and sea, like in this picture, the ever blue with clear waters touching white sand that massage the soles of your feet. Heavenly feeling. The cliffs and green and majestic view of the location--coupled with the natural sounds ...

Terraces--upheaving.

Advantages: Sights, trade, tourism, simplicity
Disadvantages: long trip, but worth it

"Stairway to Heaven" the locals declare, and it has actually exixted for thousands of years created by the hands of local tribes people called the Ifugaos. Hailed once as one of the seven wonders of the world, visiting it left me thankful there are still efforts to preserve this legacy. Besides the fact the country's summer capital Baguio is close by, this area up in Luzon is a sight to behold. You can even get to see the life of the locals as they ...

An Underground River? It's worth the trip!!

Advantages: being close with nature--AWESOME!!
Disadvantages: I enjoyed it, so then there's none.

If you're looking for a hidden haven, you would find this particular spot in the Philippines quite all that--plus more! I'll give you reasons... 1.) the atmosphere...dive into the cozy cold of this intriguing cavern that stretches down below the island. You'll find an entire ecosystem of fish, bats, birds and all those other wildlife to explore; 2.) the formations--I've seen cathedrals, bananas, even mushrooms inside this wondrous spot fromed by ...
...look out for manong the tourist guide--this guy will make the trip even more worthwhile (sorry though, I forgot his name). But this tour guideis the best there is in the country. He's been featured in National Geographic once, I tell you, he's made my trip worthwhile. Humor on the boat--that's nice! As a whole, the experience has been a blast. If you're looking for friendliness and all the thrill of nature-tripping, come on over to Palawan and visit ...

Standing room only, but at least it's secure

Advantages: secure airport, generally friendly staff
Disadvantages: A complete lack of seats

Manila International is the most secure airport I have ever travelled through. It is the only airport I know where you cannot even get up the approach road to the airport without having your vehicle inspected by armed security. Once you get near the terminal building make sure you have a valid ticket and a passport ready or you will not get any nearer than that. During the dry season baggage is scanned right at the entrance to the terminal building. ...
...weather, you are allowed to queue undercover while your bags are scanned. I don't object to the 8 or 9 different security checks that I have to pass through every time I visit Manila, or do I object to arriving more than three hours ahead of time just to catch my flight. What I object to is the complete lack of seats in the main area of the terminal. Centennial terminal is okay for seats, but the main international area has almost no seats until ...
