Advantages: Cheap, clean rooms, excellent location, friendly staff Disadvantages: Check out by 10:30am, you have to make your own bed?
The PiccadillyBackpackers Hostel known on the sign as simply picadillybackpackers is probably the cheapest place to stay in London. (Excluding prostitute infested ?hotels? that charge by the hour in Kings Cross that is).
Located on Sherwood Street just one minute from Piccadilly Circus tube the hostel is right in the heart of London within walking distance of anywhere in the West End really and so close to the tube station if you need to go anywhere further a field you?ll have no problems.
Living 20 miles or so outside of Central London going into London at night always presents one inevitable dilemma ? racing to get the last train home and then occasionally missing it and being faced with two options. After standing our ground they eventually checked us in to an alternative room on the 4th floor. A little bigger, but still not brilliant - probably "average", from past business stays down in Londonhotels. The reception staff weren't particularly friendly, as other reviews have mentioned.
Despite being "club" rooms, all that appeared to be different was the decor. Instead of old-fashioned wall-to-wall flowerey decor and furnishings, it was plain duck-egg walls, and a "modern" bed (faux-leather headboard and plain brown and green blankets). Not worth the extra money ...
