Felt I must write about this restaurant, as there are so many overpriced, poor food, poor service places in Brighton. This is an unpretentious fun place to visit - the pizzas and pastas are very tasty, and some of their specials are scrumptious and still very reasonably priced.
The previous review mentions Donatello's which I very much don't like (although a lot of people do). I've found that any visit I've made, as I like to give a place more than one try - we all have off days, has consistently been like going to an Italian Harvester, and I don't like Harvesters. The prices have increased and I don't think the food or value for money matches the quality of Piccolo at all.
My husband rates the steak (and he's incredibly picky) and I've enjoyed their crab pasta with white wine, cream and celery sauce, which was very light in texture and flavour. Also, they offer a fillet of butterfish, something I've not seen elsewhere. This was beautifully cooked with melting flaky flesh and a delicious sauce.
They often offer special deals such as some pizzas or pastas at £3.00 at lunchtime - really you can't go wrong. They also do scrummy mussels; be sure to ask for some bread to mop up the sauce.
Any drawbacks? Well yes, it can get very LOUD when it's full, but you could just call it atmosphere instead!
All in all, this is a slightly old fashioned style restaurant, and I have no problem with that - beats all the anonymous chains - give it a try and I'm sure you won't be disappointed.

Thanks for the kind words - I've given you a good idea of the menu I thought, just a taster to whet the appetite! The wine list is good and again great value.
