    The recent death of a certain middle eastern statesman, reminds me that another of the great historic characters cannot go on for ever. As the future of Palestine hangs in the balance, so the character of Cuba will quickly change for ever when Castro finally departs. Go now, before what is, is no more. These are the first reflections from a trip in 2001. I travelled with Spencer Scott, in association with Country Walking magazine.
