Advantages: Centre strip in the midst of the action Disadvantages: Some rooms are a long walk from the lifts!
...This hotel has almost everything you want for a stay in Las Vegas. Situated in the middle of the strip with easy access to all the sights and all the shopping! Within the immediate area are both the Bellagio fountains (nice, free entertainment for when the gambling budget has dried up) and the Forum Shops (great shopping if you're lucky to have a good win).
The hotel itself has really great grounds and still has its famous pinkflamingoes (although the penguins have now gone to live at Dallas Zoo). There are also some 5 or 6 swimming pools (2 large, 3 or 4 smaller ones connected by slides).
Of course, the biggest draw to Las Vegas are the casinos and the Flamingo is not exception. There is a good selection of both slots and table games at any time of the day or night.

Advantages: lots to do, great beach Disadvantages: box jellyfish in the hot wet season
...Someone asked me yesterday whether they should stay in Cairns or PortDouglas and I had no hesitation in recommending the latter. It is much smaller than Cairns and far more attractive. There is loads to do in PD and surrounding area eg the Daintree River where you can take a trip to see crocodiles and other wildlife, visit the rainforest, Mossman Gorge, drive to the Atherton Tablelands where you can go hot air ballooning and of course you can do the Quicksilver trip out to the Reef. The beach at PD is superb so it's best to build a few lazy days into your schedule. There are many good restaurants in PD, a favourite of ours being the Starfish which specialises in shellfish....
