...in Pisa, we chose the Grand Hotel Doumo. Why? Well, if you're looking for a hotel which is ideally located for all that Pisa has to offer, you'd be hard placed to find a more suitable one. It's literally a few steps from the famous tower and in fact, many of the rooms have a magnificent view of the tower and Doumo (hence the name). that explains the Doumo part of the name...you could hardly be more accurate. ...hotel may indeed have been grand once upon a time (possibly around the time the builders had forgotten their plumb line and were erecting said tower with all haste), but it sure ain't now. Dated, tired and in need of a general refurbishment...but enough about Mrs p, what about the hotel? Well I'm afraid the same description could be used for it. Disadvantages: 15-20 mins walk to Pisa tower, 5 mins walk to shopping street

I chose this hotel for a short stay in Pisa after some days in Milano. The purpose of staying in Pisa was to take advantage of the Ryanair prices. Arriving by train from Milano it was a relief to walk out of the station and see the hotel just across the road. The bus to the airport also leaves from that same location and takes just over 5 minutes to get to the airport. Walking into the hotel it felt every bit like a 4 star hotel. Nice lobby, clean ...

The room was quite spacious with adequate storage facilities, a good television system equipped with the ability to browse Internet on the Tv. As always pay per view options were also available. ...and stayed here at the Grand Hotel Duomo. It was great value for money, we got the third night free so ended up paying £140 for three nights which was well worth it. Arrived at the hotel and the initial impressions were good. Nice hotel front, good location, clean and modern reception area. Bearing in mind we were there out of season, the staff on the reception desk were flawless. We spoke no Italian and they spoke to us in English and gave us maps ...
...and good bars/restaurants. Our room was on the 1st floor and didn't have a great view. We looked out onto a flat roof and then the back of another building. But seeing as we were out most of the day and only were in our room to get ready and sleep it wasn't a big issue. The room came with a safe that you personalise the lock code so our things were safe. ...I was, but it looked green and leafy in the moonlight. In the light of a solar path light I saw a slightly deformed looking lemon on a bush. I just thought I'd throw that in for 'atmosphere'. The room ----------- I was well impressed by the room. Dominated by a huge bed, the room was spacious and very chic. Suede headboards and furnishings with a huge sofa. ...patio door that opened out to a balcony which was bizarre, as we were on the ground floor. It was equipped with a table and chairs and turned out to be a good place to smoke fags and drink coffee. We have stayed at the Grand Hotel Duomo on two occassions. I would class it as a four star Hotel. Location for Pisa could not be better, within 50 yards of the Field of Miricules where The Leaning Tower is Located, Also the Baptistry and the Cemetary all worth a Visit. The airport at Pisa is only 3 miles out of the town so Transfer to the Hotel is quick and cheap. Either by Taxi or even by Town Bus. The hotel staff are Professional and friendly. ...
...star Hotel. There is a nice Bar area, often with a Piano Player in the evenings. The breakfast area is large and well laid out. The Buffet breakfast is well stocked and replenshed often. Again the Staff are Busy and polite. We booked the Hotel thru Octopustravel, but many of the Hotel Sites will Feature this Hotel.
