Before I start I have to warn people that the pictures are misleading! The pool is actually on the roof on a main road, doesn’t look like it thought does it? I never managed to get near the pool was too busy.
We stayed at this hotel as part of an allocation on arrival deal, therefore were expecting the worse. This wasn’t the worse but it certainly didn’t thrill me either.
Being in San Antonio in July I was disappointed to discover this hotel does not have air conditioning in the rooms, and as reception was always very busy I do not know if there are units which can be rented. We chose to buy a cheap fan at a nearby supermarket. The room was very basic, simply bed, table and wardrobe although the bathroom was a fairly good size. There were a few other issues during the week we stayed which I did not find satisfactory; on one evening I was very unwell and hoped to have a bath, we then discovered that all of the water had gone off. Not only was this inconvenient but the smell from the toilet was intolerable. By far though the worst aspect of this hotel is the noise. There is an endless procession of other guests wandering about corridors shouting and banging and the noise from outside consists of what sounded like an old generator and the music from pubs and clubs. I think this is acceptable during the day but come 6am and drunk guests are still battering about outside it starts to become soul destroying. Since reception seem to only issue a single key per room, we had to listen to the same drunken attempts to enter rooms every night. This is San Antonio so noone is looking for a quiet retreat, but really I found this all a bit much and by the end of a week here I was looking forward to the peacefulness of my own flat (and I live on the high street!).
There were positives however and I must mention them. The cleaning staff were superb and I was amazed to find they changed the sheets and towels every day and fully cleaned the whole room. When we arrived back at the room one day to discover that some towels hadn’t been replaced, they were happy to do this for us. The best thing about this hotel though is the location. The hotel sits right on the ‘Egg’ in San Antonio right on the promenade which means you can get to the West End in 5 minutes and to Eden and Es Paradis in about a minute (if that’s what you fancy). The bus station is also right behind the hotel so you can go wherever you want on the island really easily. I didn’t find the reception staff to be particularly interested in talking to me, however my partner did say he spoke to 2 staff who were very helpful so I think its just a case of luck in this instance.
I would only suggest this hotel if its cheap and you have a tight budget, although we did get our room for a good price I would not go back. Best for groups of young clubbers.
