It is located in the San Palo area of venice, not far from Da Sandro Restaurant which I reviewed after last years trip.
Cross Rialto Bridge, you pass ... ...the end of those turn left down the shopping street.
About 100 yards down keep looking down the small streets to the right and you will see ANTICO PANIFICO.
As I was in charge this lunch time, I had been scanning Menus, I looked for the Magareta Pizza price as a quick guide, most had been about 8 or 9 Euros even 12 near St Marks, so when this one showed at 5.5 Euros there was no decision to make, we four Fontanas entered ... more

Cross Rialto Bridge, you pass down past the TOURIST TACK Cabins, when you come to the end of those turn left down the shopping street.

It is an extremley clean establishment, there is seating for approx 16 in the front part, with about another 30 places at the rear.
Being Pizza lovers , especially in Italy with their Thin very tasty varieties.
Ordered to our taste, this could take you some time as there are about 150 combinations to choose from, includes 8 types of Calzoni .
House wine was 6.5 Euros a LITRE again a real bargain for Venice, and quite a pleasant light red.
The couples on the next table then were brought their Pizza.s, looking we knew we had come to the right place, very large, very well covered and looked very hot.
At this point I would recommend you try and get a table where you can see the Old Guy making the Pizzas, I would estimate he is in his sixties, but he must have great shoulders.
You can see the whole process, from kneading the dough, the adding of the ingrediants, and he does not sell you short on this, he loads them Mosserrala that I would estimate as costing £2 at our local Co-op is thrown on as only an Artist can throw.
They are shoveled into his large very hot oven and not long after the masterpieces appear to be placed on plates they more than cover and straight to the tables.
The menu is not all about Pizzas, steaks, Chops, fish are also at reasonable prices, the grilled vegatables looked superb.
We immedtiately booked to return for our night time meal, when we tried their large delicious portions of Pasta. In fact its not really a case of Pasta and Pizza but unless you are a very large eater either will fill you.
So Four Starters (2 Pasta , 1 soup, one sardine. 3 Pizzas, I pork Chop, Salad, two litres wine and Large Water) sorry no room for deserts 72 Euros, not bad for venice.
As I mentions Da Sandro, would add we ate there again and that is also a very good option, but not as cheap as this one.
