A Bit of Culture in the Market Place

Advantages: Great variety of entertainment on offer. Generally cheaper prices than larger venues
Disadvantages: The length of the trek to the loos! Not the most comfortable seating

The Old Market Hove is a place which is difficult to label! It?s an historical building of some note, a theatre, a cultural centre, a venue for private hire catering for all sorts of events including weddings and civil partnerships, a recording studio, home to the celebrated Hanover Band and a base for Springboard, a competitive performing arts festival for young people. In fact it is a wonderful and invaluable community resource just a stone?s throw from the sea in The Brunswick area of Hove but just on the Brighton border. ~~~BRUNSWICK TOWN~~~ The area now known as Brunswick is, for me, one of the most fascinating areas of Hove. A great place to experience Northwest culture

Advantages: Good food, unique craft products, good portrayal of Northwest culture, lively
Disadvantages: Expensive parking, overcrowded on weekends

Since its opening in 1907, Pike Place market has been the place for local farmers, bakers, butchers, and all sort of crafts people to showcase their products. From fresh Washington apples, to the famous fish market, it is one of the best places to sample Seattle?s unique cuisine. The market itself is full of produce stands containing fruit, vegetables, pastas, honey and jams, flowers and various crafts. A definite must see is the famous fish vendors who throw the fish back and forth as customers watch. Below the market are various shops selling trinkets and collectables and restaurants serving ethnic foods as well as local staples such as salmon and clam chowder. The market can get extremely crowded on weekends, particularly in summer, so I would recommend a weekday visit. While it may seem a little gritty or deteriorated, to me this ...

Disaster at Cayenne

Advantages: Waiting staff
Disadvantages: Incompetant kitchen

Having had a poor meal on my first visit I decided to give Cayenne a second go. My mistake. Booked a table for 9pm on Sat 12th April 2008. Although there were many tables available my partner and I had to wait almost twenty minutes to be shown to our table. Starter of pork pot stickers was doughy but had good flavours. After waiting for well over thirty minutes after our starter was cleared, our waiter noticed we still didn't have our main courses (2 medium rare steaks). He came to tell us our main course was in the process of being plated. When it came out the food on both plates was cold (steaks, mashed potatoes, shallots and sauce). The side order of chips were hot. A waitress took our plates and side order away. The same steaks etc came out one minute later still cold but on hot plates. The steak piece I had cut into was hidden ...
