On my last visit to Paris I stayed near the Place de la Concorde and ended up waling around the place almost every day on my way to other places. Sadly, all the other places were more worthy of a visit.
History tells us this was a main centre of executions ... ...city's heritage, even a country's heritage. Unfortunately now though the traffic fumes and noise destroy any effort to capture the moments that originally made this place famous.
Overall, although on my must see list, this is one of the least inspiring places to visit in an otherwise magical city. ...

phallic statue Review ofPlace de la Concorde, Parisby
lewiscrofts
Advantages: views Disadvantages: traffic
this is probaly he centre of paris. it is a large round about with a phallic monument in the middle. by night it is beautiful as it is lit up and you can see the arabic / egyptian writing engraved on it iin gold. it is truly a fine sight. but what is better is what surrounds the monument. there are the government buildings, in one direction there is a direct path to the louvre but most stunning of all in the other direction there is a view up the ...

Advantages: warm in summer, romantic, architecture, street cafes Disadvantages: street entertainers wanting money for nothing, Hotel Favart
...My boyfriend and I travelled by Eurostar to Paris last summer and I can truly say it was the most wonderful holiday we have ever experienced. Disneyland Paris was the first stop and it is far more attractive than its American counterparts. We had to take the metro to Paris and carrying our luggage up four flights of escalators was a struggle, but it was worth it.
Our first hotel was a great disappointment - Hotel Favart. It was a total dump and we were only allowed to leave and cancel our reservation after I flooded the lobby with tears.
A very fast taxi journey took us to Hotel California on Rue de Berri, just of the Champs Elyesse. I will never forget turning the corner at the PlaceDelaConcorde and seeing the Arc de Triomphe for the first time. Forget the Eiffel - Paris is about architecture and the Arc is incredible.
I...

...Undoubtebly one of the best hotels in the world. Not only has this hotel won a whole host of awards it also belongs to the prestigeous leading hotels of the world group who hand select only the finest hotels from around the globe as its members.
The question is where to start perhaps with her breathtaking marble lobby, the loyal and discreet conciegerie, or her exquisite bedrooms. Well infact I think the best place to start is her location. Sitting proudly in front of the world famous placedelaconcorde this hotel enjoys some of the best views of Paris. In close proximity to the Champs Elysee and the fabulous shopping on the Avenue Montaigne and the Rue Fabourg Saint Honoree the best Paris has to offer is right at your fingertips.
Its also hard to escape the history of the hotel, as it started life as the priviate residency...

Advantages: Close to center, walkable to all main attractions. Disadvantages: Pricy area for food and drinks
...I had not been to Paris for many years but as this year was the year of my Girlfriends 18th I thought id take her away for a romantic weekend.
I got all the city brochure books as you do and eventually settled on wanting to go back to Paris.
The hotel I picked was the Hotel Bedford which is to be found just of the PlacedelaConcorde (excuse the spelling).
The booking was made via Lunn Poly and for a double room the price was £120 a night which I thought very reasonable for a 4* deluxe hotel in the heart of Paris. This price included breakfast but no other meals although there are evening meals in the hotel should you not wish to dine out.
We arrived in Paris very early (8.00 ish as we got the earliest flight out to avoid missing most of the day). We jumped on a bus at CDG airport and were in the centre of Paris within half...
