I have been on several holidays to Playa del Ingles, with my boyfriend and we both love it.
I'll start with the beach, although the beach is nice i prefer to jump in a cab (about 3 euros) and pop over the maspalomas beach. PDI tends to get very very busy, high season can be a nightmare and by the end of the day, you may find yourself being smacked in the side of the head by a mac donalds wrapper. The dunes though are beautiful, and worth the wander down to have a little dip or a dash of sunbathing, although watch where your going because you may end up in the nudist beach. which gave me the shock of my life as i wasn't expecting to see a couple of hundred brown bums looking at me (but that's what you get for not paying attention). the sand is black but they have put white sand over the top so you only see a little of it, and mostly if the weather has roughed the sea up a bit. but it's safe to swim and normally quite warm off season.

I love the night life in PDI, i prefer to stay in the Yumbo Centre, as you have everything from quiet bars with candles right the way through to drag shows and nightclubs that shut at 7 am. The Yumbo is the Gay centre of the island and it is very straight friendly, me and the fella have never had a problem. One bar to mention is veuvettes, they have nightly shows, friendly staff and karaoke. There are also some great foodie places to go, try diva for a more up market meal, or turo 2 for an excellent steak, or even one of the many buffet places, chinese buffet on the 2nd floor is the best in my books.

The Kasbah on the over hand is a bit too rowdy for me, bar crawls and free shots as you enter. perhaps i'm already over the hill, although people that do go there love it for the mix of music, which is basically everything you can think of and a bit more.
