My now husband and I recently had our wedding at the castle opposite the PlymouthArms and we took our guests there for some pre-wedding drinks. Out of courtesy we contacted the pub twice in the run up to the big day to let them know to expect a bus load of people arrive at lunchtime on a Saturday. Unfortunately for us we were absolutely appalled at the treatment our guests received at the hands of the megalomaniac 'manager' and his surly, disdainful and obnoxious bar staff. Service was painfully slow not to mention downright rude - we were absolutely mortified at the way our guests were treated. Those who ate said the food was lukewarm and poor quality - much like the welcome we received. Sadly it seems the pub relies on the fact they have a captive audience of people visiting the museum and castle opposite but they absolutely do not deserve to be in business treating people the way they currently do. My advice - go next door to the fabulous Old Post Office. My husband and I, as well as our 40 guests will never set foot in the place again. They should be ashamed.
