Well this week resulted in me finally completing the sale to purchase my new house in Cornwall, but the only problem was that Cornwall is still into the holiday season so most hotels were still fully booked up. HELP! What was I to do as being disabled; many Guest Houses and Bed and Breakfasts are unsuitable for my needs. So after looking on the Internet, I found a room at Plymouth Hoe Moat House Hotel.
On arriving at Plymouth Hoe Moat House Hotel you can drop off at the hotel entrance but must go behind the hotel to park in either the underground car park or alternatively in the external car park. There seems to be reasonably ample car parking space, but during the height of the holiday season I think parking places are at a premium. Well there are two hundred and ten bedrooms in this quality hotel, which is situated both close to the sea and the town centre. You are charges £3.50 to park for the duration of your stay but you need to pick up a token at reception when you want to leave the site. There are at least three disabled parking bays underground near the stairs and lifts.
Reception at the Plymouth Hoe Moat House Hotel is friendly and helpful. They efficiently book you in and take on board any request you may make for your stay, early morning calls, newspapers and the like. The hotel (at reception) can also offer pre-booking and reduce entrance rates to local attractions such as the Eden Project in Cornwall. You will find information about this and other local attractions including Barbican Glassworks, Becky Falls, Dartmoor, Lands End, Dartmoor Wildlife Park, Mount Edgcombe Country Park, National Marine Aquarium and Saltram House in you room or in many of the hotels public areas. There is twenty-four hour room service and families are catered for with cots and baby-sitting facilities too. There is also a children's play area too.
The hotel seemed to be more for holidaymakers but I believe there are also conference facilities here too but there was lots of coach parties staying during Shane’s and my stay this week.
It surprised me what a lovely hotel this was. Our double-bedded room was large and faced the harbour. We had sliding full-length double glazes windows with safety rails. The beds were both comfortable. The heater unit also acted as an air conditioner too. There are superb facilities ensure that you have a comfortable and luxurious stay in of Plymouth's only four-star hotel situated on the harbour. It is right opposite the Drake monument where he played bowls whilst the Spanish Armada sailed up the English Channel.
The bedrooms, many with breathtaking sea views across Plymouth's historic Hoe and the city itself, are luxuriously appointed each with en-suite bathroom. Each room has a direct-dial from bedroom along with sky television (limited channels) and Tea/Coffee making facilities too. If you upgrade to a Crown Package then you get the use of towelling gowns, filter coffee, fruit juice and spring water plus extra toiletries.
There is a modern leisure complex, including swimming pool and gym called Club Motivation, there is also a separate fittest studio for aerobics and similar functions. In additional it also features a Sauna, Steam room, Solarium, Jacuzzi spa, Gymnasium, and Beauty Saloon. The prices here are very reasonable and I love to have some of the available treatments. There is a leisure package that you can book directly from the Moat House holiday brochure.
Dinner is avalible on the Penthouse in “elliots”, this new-look contemporary restaurant on the top floor of the hotel. You need to take the lift to the Terrace Bar were you can enjoy a variety of cocktail, wine or beer while taking in the panoramic views across Plymouth Sound and the City. It is beautiful at night with the lights twinkling. The sparkling Blue Ribboned Restaurant with its panoramic sea views, diners enjoy a wide choice of delicious a la carte or table d’hôte dishes in the sumptuous surroundings of what looks like a great ocean liners. You can have food with a view, well that is if you have a head for heights. Plymouth Hoe Moat House Hotel seafood dishes on the a la carte contains are prepared from the best of the catch brought fresh each day from the Barbican, BUT the menu is generally the same as found at any other Moat House though out Great Britain.

The hotel also has its own restaurant, “elliots”, for the residence enjoyment and offers a carvery menu along with an a la carte one too in the evenings along with its large lounge and bar for relaxing in on the top floor. There is also a bar on the ground floor too. If you do not want to leave your room them you can use the twenty-four hour room service. The sandwiches are huge very tasty too! The food usually arrives within the time scale mentioned on ordering. My mouth is now watering at the thought of it yet again.

...a couple of minutes away. Plymouth is a great vibarant city, which has great shopping and historical venues. But I would say that as I grew up in Cornwall and went to school in Plymouth. I returned to my room at about 3.30pm to get ready for my well awaited for night out. I was a little dissappointed as my room had not yet be cleaned, but that was a minor fault. Now the boring bit.
The cost for my room on dinner bed and breakfast in a crown bedroom ... ...on the internet, which is the cheaper. My large glass of wine was £4.75 and my facial £35.95.
There is a carpark which is just £8.50 for your entire stay, though from overhearing I think that space is sometimes difficult to find. There was also a childrens soft play area, but I did not actually see it.
All in all it was a great weekend and well worth the expense. I would advise booking your evening meal before arriving for your first night and ...

...very enjoyable stay at the Plymouth Hoe Moat House Hotel, I've decided it would make a good choice for my second review - Having suffered with writers block since my first one!
My Partner booked the stay as a surprise for my birthday and when booking upgraded to a family crown room - Although I'd like to think it was out of the goodness in his heart, there was actually a special offer on and It cost us £300 for a long weekend stay, which we though ... ...The good thing about Plymouth and the position of the hotel is that most places in the town, such as the Barbican, Hoe and Town Centre are in easy walking distance and the only time we used the car was when visiting the many local attractions outside Plymouth.
Check-in was quick and efficient, and the entrance to the hotel very modern and clean - I was impressed.
We then got into one of the very busy lifts - expect a wait at check-in/out times ...

Advantages: Locality of beaches, great to eat and drink. Good base to explore Devon and Cornwall Disadvantages: Long drive from most of the country, bad city centre
Right, where do i begin? There's too much to say...
Guess the first thing is to start with a bit... don't worry only a bit...of history.
Although unrecognisable now, as it's all merged into one, Plymouth originally consisted of three towns.
The Barbican (where I live), Stonehouse and Plympton.
The Barbican was and still is the major fishing harbour for the town.
Stonehouse was where the huge, armarda defeating, Navy were based, and still are, and Plympton....well thats just Plympton!
I expect you know this already but Sir Francis Drake was supposed to have been playing bowls on PlymouthHoe when he was informed of the approaching Spanish Armarda.
He finished his game and then duly sailed out and kicked their ass!
Anyway let me got on with the guide.
WHERE TO STAY
The best hotels are the;
MOATHOUSE - great views ...
