A CONVENIENT BED (AND GARAGE) FOR THE NIGHT
Advantages: A Secure Garage For the Car! Excellent Food & Service. "Cold War" Ambiance. Disadvantages: Not a Cheap Option. Some Grim Bedrooms.
WHY DID WE BOOK THE HOTEL PIAST IN BOLESLAWIEC?
Note: Piast is pronounced as it appears - Boleslawiec is pronounced Bolleswavietts.
Here is an odd one; we have NEVER booked this particular hotel! For us it has always been used as an overnight stop between our home here in Brighton and my wife's family home near Mielec in Eastern Poland.
The fact that we have never booked it may explain my main beef here now - although last Christmas we had a conversation ... ...of the Polish border. The Hotel Piast just happened to be the first one on that list!
The criterion used in drawing up the list was not the usual English holiday or business one. For a one night stay east of what was the Iron Curtain they cannot afford to be. SECOND YEAR RUNNING AND IT WAS JUST AS GOOD!
Advantages: Superb Setting. Helpful Staff. Fantastic Food. Squeaky Clean Room & En-Suite. Disadvantages: Not for Travellers Without Transport. Disabled Access Not The Best.
...have always kept our favourite hotel in England a secret from you, on the reasoning that you are not all going to flock to the Polish mountains at once, this one I have decided to share with you. Being a RICHADA review, I apologise but, before we get to the review itself you have to undergo the scene setting preamble, or "boring bit".
After a couple of weeks staying with my parents in law in their diminutive first floor flat, situated in an, let's ... ...wife: a luxurious AIR CONDITIONED hotel - situation irrelevant. My wife, being a fan of mountains and lakes, was determined to go to the Polish mountains - partly on the advice of our dentist who had spent the previous weekend there - staying in a private house where they let rooms, the Polish equivalent of a B & B.
