My first visit to Polperro was on the way to the Lizard in south Cornwall and we stayed for an hour or two. During that period we popped into the Bradford and Bingley Estate agents in the village they sell property and also do holiday lets.
The village itself is THE perfect example of a Cornish Fishing Village, it has traffic free streets, a mixture of good quality eating places, 5 or 6 excellent pubs,a museum, and a dozen or so shops. The village is also a working fishing port.
The accomadation is plentiful there are several hotels and B&Bs I have found the best way to enjoy the village is to rent a cottage. Cottages can rented directly with owners or via the Bradford & Bingley Estate agency Tel 01503 3272303. Having stayed at serval cottages I have yet to stay in a bad one would recommend 'Water's Edge' sleeps 2 and costs only £280 in July.
Polperro itself boasts several pubs and Restaurants the best eating place is Captain Nemo's (also most expensive) the best pub is the Blue Peter (Near the harbour) - rarley can a holiday destination boast such a local's pub - people are fiendly and you feel like you are in a different world. There are other pubs of note The Noughts and Crosses and the Three Pilchards are both worth a visit.
There is an excellent coastal path walk to Looe (As you leave the village via the coast path have a look for the Bus Timetable back from Looe - worth catching the bus back) the walk takes about 1 1/2 hours but well worth it. If it rains (and it somtimes does) Plymough is approx. 18 miles from the village.
I would strongly recommend a visit if you go out of season you can rent a cottage that sleeps 4 for £120.00

We went to Polperro a few years ago. It was chucking it down with rain, but it was still a lovely place. Did you see the Harbour Cat? There was a gorgeous ginger cat (obviously very elderly) who snuggled up under my coat to get out of the rain. He was so soppy, I didn't want to leave him...next thing we saw his picture on one of the Town Postcards whilst browsing in the shops - the postcard was simply entitled "Harbour Cat!" He was lovely, I'm sure he must be dead by now as he looked very frail; but I will always remember Polperro because of him, he was the loveliest cat ever!!!

I think I have missed Polperro on my many visits to Cornwall, we'll have to make a trip next time we go.
