More Like Euthanasia

Advantages: Flappy things on the seats keep your ears warm
Disadvantages: Great exanmple of 'You pay peanuts, you get monkeys'

...completed, since today’s theme is Polynesian Airlines – who operated my connection from Sydney to Wellington.

We had just ended the major leg of our 28-hour trek and were feeling pretty knackered. We got ourselves what we believe was breakfast but by that time we were completely lost and confused. Our flight was called – it was a Qantas flight operated by Polynesian.

First impressions were good. As ...
...the colourful yet over-elaborate new Polynesian Airways, it was impressive.

First Looks…

We didn’t check in since we were in transit yet I am led to believe that it was a fairly painless and speedy process. Boarding was speedy – a bit of a drag though due to the fact that we had to wait around a fair deal thanks to the connection.

...two B737-800s which belong to Polynesian Airlines of Samoa (Pacific Island). It has been leased to Qantas to do domestic flights in NZ and cross tasman. Flight attendants are QANTAS and not Polynesian and the service you described sounds pretty much like the QF domestic NZ inflight service. Unfortunately your letter sadly discredits Polynesian Airlines which is a pretty good airline and has received good passenger comments on Airtrax especially on ...

The Islands of Perpetual Sunday

Advantages: Pristine rainforest and beaches, amazing diving, welcoming locals

Sitting on a roof-top veranda and gazing out towards the reef where punishing rips and currents swirl, I thought how fortunate I had been to arrive in Samoa on a comfortable airliner instead of by the rickety boats made of palm trees used by the first Polynesian settlers to arrive here. Yet in many ways, the islands that make up Samoa (Independent Samoa) are little changed since those settlers arrived some 2000 years ago as part of a migration of humans across the Pacific from the Philippines and Papua New Guinea to Tahiti and Easter Island. Samoa is still largely covered by pristine, impenetrable rainforest and in the first place I stayed I was lucky enough to be high on a hilltop overlooking the forest on the island of Upolu, one of Samoa's two main islands.
