Where is the Pontianak?

Pontianak, a city on the Kalimantan island, Indonesia country, was founded by Abdurrahman Syarif Alkadrie on October 23, 1771, which is located on the first corner in the three rivers, namely: Landak river, Kapuas river, and Kapuas Kecil river. Kapuas river are the most long in Indonesia (1.1 mega meters), which split the Pontianak city.

From the city of Pontianak to Kuching (Malaysia) can be by road. Have occurred many trade and tourism relations between the two cities.

Pontianak city famous as the equator, due to be zero degrees latitude earth. Therefore, in this city there is equator monument built right on the point passed by the location of zero degrees latitude earth.

The city is also famous as a ghost town. Not clear until the beginning of the first so named.

More details about the city of Pontianak can be read at: http://id.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pontianak, or other sources on the internet.

My experience

I was born and raised here. My parents are of Arab descent. But here I called the Malay race, as well as for a family or descendants of Syarif Abdurrahman Alkadrie. In addition to ethnic Malays, there are also ethnic Chinese and Dayak tribe a big amount. The several tribes that are not so large in number (such as ethnic Madurese, Bugis, Batak, etc.).

In the small time, I often bathe in the Kapuas river, not far from our house. Activities washing and bathing is done in this river. Children swim, there is also a cross the river Kapuas. Unlike the population away from the river. They make a well for bathing and washing. But now, people rarely bathed in this river, except those living in flood plains. If the dry season comes, can take up to several months, until the river water became dry, and can be used to play foot ball.

Before a company running water, residents use rain water for drinking and cooking. Precipitation in the patch on the barrel, as a backup during the dry season. Precipitation here has a degree of acid is high enough, so many broken teeth at the age of youth.

In the city's many coffee shops. In the morning and at night a lot of people often gather here while you chat.

If the fasting month arrived, many people make a cannon out of bamboo or coconut tree. Using material from the carbide. Sound jarring. Often compete loud between people separated by the river Kapuas. They do it at night, sometimes until dawn.

Many things happen here mystics, such as 'Tuju' for example. 'Tuju' is a long-distance weapon to harm enemies. Made from eggs and needle (for night) or orange and needle (for the day). With spell, eggs or orange can fly towards the target with the right. Needle into the body. As a result, sick, or dead. But the 'Tuju' will fall and don't work if appointed, while shouting: 'Tuju'. Weird is not it?

There are more stories about 'Pelet'. 'Pelet' is made of material and oil-incantation incantation given. If the oil is placed on the girl friend / boy friend, the 'victim' will fall in love. Believe or not.
