For a holiday of a lifetime go to croatia. We have gone to Croatia for the last ten years, and believe me it is unspoilt and second only to paradise. To start with if you want a family type hotel you must stay at the Kristal hotel. This is one of the riviera hotel chain. The manager is Davor,a true gentleman and he willmake sure your stay is one to remember. The catering manager is Mustafa,he has a warm aire about him. With his staff he also makes everyone welcome. All of the food is from Croatia, but mostly from the local area, this is called Istria. While in Porec, you must take the all day boat trip to Rovinj. This is a old town with a large church at the top of the hill in the town. There is a market where to buy local produce, aswell as leather and wood carved goods. On your return trip to Porec, you will call into Linfjord, the only fjord outside of scandinavia. The film the vikings was filmed here which starred Kirk Douglas and Tony Curtis. There is also a fish breeding farm at the top of the fjord.as you leave the fjord heading back to Porec you will pass some of the 1,270 plus islands that surround Croatia. You will call at the small fishing town of Vsar, with some of the largest pleasure crafts moured in the port. The ice cream parlor/cafe is run an italian family, the best you will ever taste,or while taking in the sun, try the grappa,be warned it is very strong and a taste of it`s own. From there it is a leasurely boat ride back to Porec. If you stay here,Pula is only one hour from Porec by bus, this is a must.As you arrive in Pula, your fist sight is of this amazing ampitheatre,it is outstanding and breathtaking again on the seafront. The local people are always there to welcome you,and we are always treated as locals when we arrive in Porec,as they are used to seeing us every year. Croatia is a poor country and need visitors to help there economy to survive.I have recommended croatia to friends and family, and they have also been impressed, and returned many times. When you go,youwill also be impressed, believe me.

Hi,i have been toying with idea of visiting croatia, and your review of porec has definately made my mind up.Good review of the town and things to do while i am there.
The fact that you have been to the same place year after year, and stayed at the kristal hotel speaks volumes. You mentioned the boat trip,i think we would really like that.We are interested in old ruins and old church`s,and this is a holiday i think we will enjoy.

Good review, it requires more opinion and more dtail to get a higher rate.
NH Hotels, the hotel chain leader in Europe, with more than 300 hotels in 20 countries in Europe, Latin America and Africa. Enter into our web site and find the best available tariff at all times
Advantages: Easily accessible by car from Europe, still value for money, lovely beaches Disadvantages: everytime you tell your friends you've been there you'll have to answer the 'but what about the war?' question :-)
