Vsar is a wonderful small town in its own right, many people stay at the various hotels here or at the neighbouring Koversada Naturist Camping and Resort Centre, this is accommodates over 12,000 people!
Vsar is famous for its fish festivals held during July and August where the whole town becomes one large fish picnic/barbecue. The port has been selected for the prestigious Superyachts ports of the world for thee years running and can accommodate superyachts up to 50m in length. Tucked away from the main restaurants on the quayside is one of the finest grill restaurants in Istra. Walk along the northern (town side) quay until you come across a large wooden barrel, turn right up the dusty road for about 50 yards and then turn right again and you will have arrived. The food is cooked before your eyes, and you may have to book and return later as this restaurant often has families from the superyachts dining here/ Do not panic though, you will pay less here than in the fancy over rated tourist restaurants on the quayside.
The resort of Vsar is made for a gentle relaxing holiday, although there are a number of buses to Porec (15 minutes away) and Pula (90 minutes). Think more Eastbourne than Brighton or Blackpool.

Advantages: Easily accessible by car from Europe, still value for money, lovely beaches Disadvantages: everytime you tell your friends you've been there you'll have to answer the 'but what about the war?' question :-)
