Port El Kantaoui is a purpose built Holiday Resort on the Northern Coast of Tunisia in North Africa. It is situated just a few kilometres North of Sousse, Tunisia's second largest City after the Capital Tunis. It was built in 1979 with a modern 300 Yacht capacity Marina as its focal point. In recent years this Marina has become a popular mooring location for the rich and famous undertaking their Mediterranean Cruises and the Marina here is said to rival those long established Marinas of Nice and Marbella on the Southern Coast of Europe. It is now also Tunisia's most popular Holiday Resort. I ... more

Setting the scene… My grandmother died in January 2004 and I hit rock bottom, I got really depressed and suicidal. I took anti depressants and saw a therapist but nothing seemed to help. I couldn't get up in the morning to get my children to school and I couldn't bare to be close to anyone, I became afraid that people would die. My partner and his family kept telling me to pull myself together; they didn't understand why I was affected so badly. In April, Just when I thought nothing could help me and nobody cared, My boyfriends father threw me a lifeline, he bought my boyfriend and me a last ... more

My husband and I were fortunate enough to stay at the Marhaba Palace Hotel, at Port El Kantaoui, Tunisa. with my son and his girl friend, this sept. what an amazing time we had. at this 4 star hotel. First off, I would like to advise people that the flight time is just over 2 and a half hours and not 4 hours like suggested in several Holiday brochures. When you change from the plane to the coach for transfer, you will drive through several other places including Souse. Whilst doing so, you may have an 'oh my god' thought running through your head at the sight of some of The Hotel's but I ... more

One of the best things about Tunisia as a destination is that it can be reached by a number of airpots such as Glasgow, Gatwick and Manchester and from the northen ones it is around a 3 and a half hour flight to Monastir (where you fly for Sousse and most middling cities). It is also a bilingual country with most people speaking both Arabic and French. When we had decided on Tunisia it was a matter of selecting what we wanted from our holiday because Tunisia has alot to offer many different people. There are the busy resorts of Hammamet and Souse or even Sfax. There are the historical sites to ... more

We flew with Kathargo Airlines from Edinburgh to Monastir. The flight time is about 3 and a half hours. The airline was very basic with no in flight entertainment and the usual meals were served. The aircraft was obviuosly quite old with shabby seats and trays that didn't work or were broken. If on a Boeing 737 then don't sit near the centre of the plane (seat 12 to 14) as the legroom is quite ridiculous! On Arrival at Monastir be prepared for long queues whilst you go through immigration. After collecting your baggage don't worry about finding your coach, as there'll be a willing porter ready ... more
