My boyfriend and I went to Tunisia in June of last year after it was recommended to us by a colleague as we wanted to try somewhere different to the usual holiday resorts in Europe, we weren't disappointed it was amazing.
We stayed at the Marhaba Palace Hotel in Port El Kantaoui, we would definitely stay here again, the rooms were large, clean and comfortable with spacious balconies, the restaurant was big with plenty to choose from for both breakfast and dinner, the food was excellent, the staff were helpful and friendly.
The hotel is in a good location within easy reach to the beach and only a 5-10 minute walk from the marina with it's shops and restaurants, I would recommend the fresh tuna sandwiches, fantastic !
We went on a couple of sightseeing trips, one definitely worth the money, we went to El Jem to see the Ampitheatre there which looks very similar to the Coliseum in Rome, this is where my boyfriend proposed so it holds special memories for me.
The weather was a little disappointing as it was only about 25-28c and we like it hot so had expected temperatures to be over 30c at least for the beginning of June, but that was the only downside of the holiday for us. I would definitely recommend Tunisia to anyone looking to experience African culture.
