The Portofino Ristorante Pizzeria has a contemporary architecture, it's completely different from others Marrakech's restaurants. The owner is Italian and the chef too. He worked in Agadir before, at the Restaurent Rugantino. He moved with all is staff to Marrakech in October 2005. The chef told me, that for have a very crispy cooked pizza, you need a traditional wooden oven, and in this way, the oven comes from Modena. Modena is not only Ferrari's city ;-D.
This restaurant is situated close at the Koutoubia and a few minutes by foot from the J. Fna square. Portofino is beautiful and the service of the waiters very good. Unfortunatly they have some problems with the English, but the manager speaks a fluent English because he worked in the Usa.
If you don't want eat a pizza....no problem, you can choose between spaghetti, penne, maccheroni, lasagne, cannelloni, gnocchi (I loved gnocchi alla Sorrentina). They have a very good house made pastas.
No pasta. They can cook for you meat....or.....you can choose in their selection of fresh fish and sea food, becuase it arrives fresh from Agadir and Essaouira every day. My boyfriend had a pesce al sale/ a fish covered with salt and cooked in the oven. Delicious.
They have a nice dessert list with tiramisù, nugat glacè and more. If you want a fruit salad, you have to wait, because it's fresh made, but I prefere waiting for eat somethings fresh.
This resataurant has 2 menù for the little guests, because they are very welcome.
The bathrooms are clean and without bad smell.
My boyfriend enjoy read the article of his football team on his owen computer at the restaurent because it has the wifi.....and he had the bad news about Sheva, from Milan to London :-D
They don't have the licence for sell alkohol at the moment, but if you travel in this kind of countries you know it can happen.
The prices are very good, not expansive. For menù à la carte you will spend around 150 dhs. It means for have the exchange in Euro I do in this way: 150:11 and I will have the Euro.
You can pay by credit card
