Hence the old Manchester Posthouse has now been rebranded to a 'Crowne Plaza'. This brand is geared towards business customers with locations at major airports and city's across the world and a high emphasis on conference and meeting facilities. I last stayed here 3 years ago under the old owners Forte.
------ RESERVATION -------
I booked a double room over the internet at www.6c.com this address will let you book hotels worldwide and is easy to navigate, each booking enquiry will list all room rates for all hotel brands in the city you choose from the drop down list or you can type it in. I paid £45.09 inc VAT for one night last weekend, this was called an internet saver rate which I have found to be the cheapest most of the time however you can find some excellent last minute weekend special which are advertised on the night every Thursday for that weekend. Once reserved over the net a confimation is then e-mailed straight away for you.
------- HOTEL EXPERIENCE -------
Location: The hotel is siuated adjacent to Terminal 3, thay do run a shuttle service on demand, car parking is free for guests and the car park is monitored by cameras, although they do have a service where they will store it for you, you do need to ask for prices as I could see no literature advertising prices.
Check-in: was pretty quick and painless, three members of staff were on duty along with 2 concierges at a desk opposite, staf fwere polite and very customer focused, the hotel lobby was very clean and bright with entrances to bar and restaurant. The Room:
The room I checked into was quite small but as this was just an airport hotel I guess people just stay for one night any more and I think the small room s would drive people crazy, however they still amnaged to cram in a armchair, double bed, tv, desk, minibar, plants and tea/coffee facilities! For the business traveller ISDN sockets and of course the infamous trouser press! The rooms were looking a bit shabby and well used but they did inform us that they will be shortly be going under refurbishment to get rid of the last remnant's of the posthouse feel, they have only just had an interim refurb, my only concern was the bed linen was a bit torn and stained, however I was only there for the night. Paystation and movies are also available in your room. The bathroom was tiny but did have bath and shower plus lots of brand name freebie toiletries!
Leisure Facilities: Although I did not avail of these they included pool, sauna and fitness room which I heard from other guests were pretty well equipped.
------- OVERALL OPINION ------
As an airport hotel it is fairly well equipped and comfortable, aircraft noise is kept to a minimum by the triple glazing and as a bonus the last flight movement subject to delays is about 11.30pm! I would say that it is not worth the full asking price of upto £140 which is why you should shop around and for customer service it's tops.
Not keen on small rooms, but a big fan of Crowne Plaza hotels, plus of course I get my Priority Club points, will have to try and find an excuse :)
