Advantages: Good location. Clean. Disadvantages: Need to take a course in customer service
I was very excited to go to this Pousada as we had planned this for a long time as there is so much in the surrounding area to see.
On arrival we found parking to be a problem and almost none existent. We had to park down the road and carry our own luggage to reception.
At reception, although friendly, we had to wait a while to be attended to.
The rooms were clean and although small, were adequate. The bathrooms have been modernized, however grouting and tiling not done very well. Beds comfortable.
Breakfast was included and a large variety of breads, cheeses etc available. However, the service was appalling. It was self service however one had to request certain items such as coffee etc from the waiters. Again, trying to attract the attention of the waiters took time. When we were served coffee it was like dishwater ...
Advantages: Beautiful, charming, sophisticated beach resort Disadvantages: Other than getting there - none really.
You may notice from my 'ciao' name that I have some interest in Búzios and this is because it is my second home, or to be more precise, my holiday home as we own a holiday house there and our family visit every year. I therefore feel well qualified to comment on it as a holiday destination and will try not to be too biased.
Búzios (the town's full name is Armação de Búzios) sits on the tip of a long, beach-rich peninsula jutting out into the clear blue Atlantic just 2 hours drive north of Rio de Janeiro.
Until the 1960s Búzios was a small, sleepy fishing village. Then Brigitte Bardot stumbled upon it's sandy beaches in 1964, and in the years since the little town has used the publicity to turn itself into one of Brazil's top beach resorts. On summer holiday weekends the town is packed with Brazilians on vacation, many Carioca ...
Advantages: Nice and romantic place Disadvantages: Can be expensive
Cabo Frio is the name of an area where Buzios is probably the most famous destination. Buzios, in its turn, is the name for an area encompassing few villages, but it is common for people to refer to Buzios as a whole as opposed to each village. This is traditionally a romantic destination in Brazil. Brigitte Bardot went there some time ago when Buzios was still a village of fishermen. Today, although Buzios retain som of its past, the are is dotted with the villas of the rich Cariocas and Paulistanos. According to my Carioca friend, a house in Buzios was very much high status. There are many boat excursion you can do from Buzios, and they keep you busy all day. It is a good idea to join other groups to get lower prices. Accomodation can be expensive in the summer season. If you are lucky enough to meet people in Brazil who won a property ...
