Czech it out !!

Advantages: The beauty and ambiance of a lovely city
Disadvantages: A lot of tourists and walking!!

THE CITY OF PRAGUE INTRODUCTION My husband and I wanted a short break sans kids, having 'done' Paris so many times we decided to try somewhere completely new to us - that place was Prague. We knew little about the Czech Republic before we went, only of its political history and 'Good' King Wenceslas. Wedged in between Germany and Austria the Czech Republic is one of the most comfortable and easy to get around countries of the former ...
...1989, Prague has become one of the most popular destinations in Europe - and it's easy to see why! We took the flight, early October, from Manchester to Prague (just over two hours) not knowing what to expect during our five day tour there - and we weren't disappointed. GENERAL IMPRESSION The city is absolutely dazzling, with spires and statues and historical landmarks everywhere you turn. There are remnants of communism situated next to ...

Prague in general

Advantages: A lot of places to see, o lot of clubs, not expensive
Disadvantages: I do not know any of them

Last summer I was In Prague for a week, this summer I am planing to come back, because I just admire this city. The buildings, parks, streets, churches, everything i just fascinating. The Carl bridge is the place where you just have to go, the city hall is fascinating, especially in night. Prague Grail is unforgetable. Starting bildings, which is like in a fairytail, finishing Vitas catedral. There you have to see the gold street, it is woth to see, ...
...a lot of clubs in Prague centre, you just have to go there, restaurants is working till 2 in the night, but restaurants in city hall is very expensive, so there you can order just beer and relax, it is woth. There are o lot of shops is the centre of Prague and the prices is not high. Foot prices isn't high if you do not eat in city hall. So it won't be expencive holidays, but you will remember as the best. ...

The Tram Cafe

Advantages: Unique, cheap, excellent location
Disadvantages: None

Whilst on holiday in Prague myself and my girlfriend were wondering back to our apartment after a day of sight seeing and we came across the Tram Café in Wenceslas Square. We decided to pop in for a quick drink and warm ourselves up. The Tram Café. The Tram Café is situated in the far end of Wenceslas Square in the City of Prague. Wenceslas Square is one of the major tourist attractions in Prague and is marked on every map so finding this unusual ...
...it by accident on our walk home. The Trams which make up the Tram Café were are trams that were once in use within the City of Prague. Tram number 11 used to operate at the Vaclavska Square from the beginning of the 20th century up until 1974. The motor tram car number 2077 was made in 1927 in Prague and was first used within the City. Later, it was given to the Public Transport Museum. In 2000, it was brought back to Prague and was carefully renovated. ...

The most beautiful city in Europe

Advantages: Lots to see and beautiful place
Disadvantages: NA

...using the Euro until 2020. Things are pretty cheap in Prague-well a good excuse for me to go back. I only paid less than 1 pound/1euro for a pint of the famous local beer, Pilsner Urquell. Prague is THE place for beer-why? This is because the Czech is the nation with the largest beer annual consumption, followed by the Irish(second place) and the Germans(third place). Surprised isn’t it? After a few pints of beer, we headed back to the hotel. Berlin/Prague/Vienna ...
...walking tour with the local guide. Our first stop was the Prague castle. It is located in the hilltop area of Hradcany overlooking the River and is the official residence of the President of Czech Republic. We visited the St Vitus Catheral. It is one of the landmarks of Prague and was built in 1344 but more work or decoration was added to it during the course of history. Therefore, inside the church, you can see a variety of styles, gothic, renaissance ...

Negotiating Prague: safely,cheaply & confidently

Advantages: Amazingly efficient, simple & easy to use & incredibly cheap public transport
Disadvantages: Taxis can be a rip off, hearing the name of your tram stop & actually recognising it can take a bit of practice!

...then you start straight away getting the bus from the aiprort to the centre. Inside the arrivals hall (Terminal 1 for uk flights) on the right hand side of the exit are some kiosks. Get your transport system tickets here (combined cover for bus, tram & metro on multi trip / multi day tickets) - and pick up a free map of the tram & metro systems while you are at it . You'll definately need this - stops are usually announced on bus, tram & metro but ...
...means nothing! so the map is very usefully for counting stops etc! Tickets range from single trip (really cant see the point of that) to multi-day passes. We got a 7 day pass for 280Kr, about £7 - a 3 day pass was 200Kr (£5). To get into the centre you need the 119 bus (you can get a taxi or the airport express both of which are dearer & believe me the bus is simple). Go out of the arrivals hall & just across the road infront of you are the bus ...
