...When I moved to Newcastle I was concerned about the weather - it can be very cold, but found that a great collection of high street shopping both inside and out of the wonderful Eldon Square helped take my mind of the temperature. Night life is also pretty good with something for pretty much everything from the classy Queyside area to cheaper drinking areas such as the local orientated Bigg Markett
The city centre is always clean and on the whole the people are great, very friendly. Travel is also much easier than in many cities with the reliable metro service....

Advantages: Centre of town, great for business travellers, cost effective and accomodating. Disadvantages: Underground car parking is limited.
...I love staying in hotels, from the tackiest Fawlty Towers type to the crème de la crème (very occasionally) over the past few months I have discovered another way to rest my weary head away from home: self-catering apartments; when I heard this title I immediately thought of Butlin's type rooms with Formica work-tops and dreary décor. I decided to give them a go and the final decision was down to cost, either £140 per night at Malmaison, Newcastle or £70 a night per apartment in a PremierApartment. Prices vary but on average I have found them cheaper than the top hotels in Newcastle.
