I checked on the internet and found out that Premier Lodge had some special offers for when we wanted to go and booked a room. When you book on line you reserve with a credit card but have to pay for the room when you arrive. I guess it's to safeguard against cancellations.

Premier Inn is a very basic chain - you get a no frills room with basic facilties, en suit bathroom and a kettle/tv in the room. It was what we wanted. When we arrived, I was told that the room was £10 more than the price I'd reserved it at. So we had a big argument with the manager about this. As I had all the printed out paperwork from my on line reservation, I was able to prove this and I did pay the price I was expecting. Something ... more
Last year, my partener and I decided to take a few days holiday by the seaside. I do like Brighton - it's close to London so not far to travel and there are some great places to eat.
We didn't bother ordering breakfast as we were doing the break on a budget, and just brought our own food to eat in the room. I wasn't aware of any facilities but then I guess you get what you pay for - it's all very basic.
When we arrived, I was told that the room was £10 more than the price I'd reserved it at. So we had a big argument with the manager about this. As I had all the printed out paperwork from my on line reservation, I was able to prove this and I did pay the price I was expecting. Something to watch out for?
We headed up to the room and found it was absolutely disgusting. There was mould in the wardrobe, the bath had brown stains in it, the carpet was unhoovered and the windows didn't shut properly. I wasn't expecting this from a well-known travel inn chain. So we went back downstairs and complained.
We were moved to a different room - it was actually a family room so it should have been more expensive. It was massive and very nice! However still not perfect. The room only had one small 60w lightbulb in the centre so was really dark and the sofa bed smelled like it hadn't been cleaned properly but it was an improvement on the previous room.
That evening, we hardly got any sleep because the walls are paper thin and there seemed to be a stag party going on.
We left a "Do Not Disturb" sign on the door so that the room service maid would know not to walk in because we wanted to have a lie-in the next morning but sadly, it would seem, she couldn't read English as she came marching straight into the room to find my partner in the shower and me in my underwear! She was rather embarrassed and backed out.
The sign was left on the door as I had my pda in the room and didn't want anyone snooping about in my luggage. When we returned later from the shops, the maid had been in yet again, removed the "Do not disturb" sign and moved all my stuff about. She also appeared to have tested some of my cosmetics and toiltries as the lids hadn't been replaced properly and I was panicked about my pda. Fortunately that was safe but we had to complain again about this.
That evening, we were kept awake by some kids playing football against our door (or maybe it was that room service maid getting back at us?!) and when I went out to investigate, the hallway was thick with cannabis fumes, which were coming from under one of the doors - our room was meant to be no smoking as my partner is allergic so I didn't really want smoke fumes of any description coming into the room. So back downstairs again to complain! ARGH!
The next morning, the maid did her trick again of removing the Do Not Disturb sign from the door and entering. This time I had kept my pda with me and also packed some of my toiletries away just in case she had come back for more. Considering the rooms were so dirty, I'm not even sure why she was so keen to get into them as she clearly wasn't cleaning them properly!
The break left me utterly stressed, which was the opposite of what it should have done. I won't be returning in a hurry.
Advantages: Cheap & in a central area Disadvantages: Dirty Room
...for our 2 day stay, Premier lodge charged £54 per night per double room.
There is an underground secure car-park available for £5 per night, of which our car never left the entire stay.
Located on North Street Brighton, premier lodge is central to all the nightlife, restaurants, shops and is 5 mins from the beach.
Premier Lodge offer the following:-
En-suite facilities
Direct dial telephone television and radio
24 hour reception
Wake up alarm
... ...door and browsed the room for 2-3 mins only to realised we were still in bed, then leave!!
This was my first experience with Premier Lodge and it was chosen because of the cost as other accomodation in the area was more expensive, I won't be using them again! ...
