Hey, this ain't bad for £50 per night.
Advantages Cheap, Affordable, Useful Locations
Disadvantages "You only get what you pay for"
Premier Lodge and the other leading UK budget hotel group Travel Inn have recently joined together to form Premier Lodge Travel Inn. Their motto is "spend the night, not a fortune" and this phrase does exactly what it says on the tin.
Premier Lodge runs very similarly to it's leading competitor, Travelodge, in the fact that it provides very basic accomodation in key areas (eg motorway junctions) at prices that "normal" people could easily afford. This is generally under £50 per room per night (depending on location). Notice however that they charge per room per night, this is the same for two people or a whole family (ie 4). This makes it incredibly appealing to families (especially with young children)When we stayed at Premier Lodge, we stayed in Premier Lodge Nottingham North West and stayed there overnight to visit nearby alton towers. It is in a quiet residential location, and is attached to a pub. Most premier lodges are attached to a pub which provides a reasonable breakfast the next day which can be charged to your room. The rates for this are something like £4.50 for a continental breakfast (ie croissants, cereal, coffee etc) and about £6.50 for a cooked breakfast. Some PL's have a covered walkway, others don't!
Now getting back to the room. The room is generally the same whereever you go. There is a main double bed, and under that are several (2 or 3) pullout beds (which admittedly are very comfortable) that children or others can sleep on. These can be wheeled back under when you wake up. Also in the room, is the standard facilities, such as free tea and coffee, bath towels and the phone. The phone rates at PL are advertised quite heavily within the building as being CHEAP, and compared to other hotels are very reasonable with free calls to 0800 and 0500 numbers.Overall we had an enjoyable stay, and the staff (although limited, it's almost like self service with just one or 2 receptionists) are very helpful and go out of their way to help you with anything, such as travel directions to nearby attractions. PL North West Nottingham was approx an hour away and was well signposted. Nearby there is also a big IKEA, which was an added bonus.
For £50 a night, it really is a bargain, and you'll wonder why you ever went elsewhere!
