After searching for a place to stay near to Blackpool, at a reasonable price, I came across this Lodge. At £45.95 per night for the room ( can be higher) I thought great.

Premier Lodge has recently joined forces with Travel Inn, and is now known as Premier Travel Inn. They have a saying 'Spend a Night, Not a Fortune'. I booked via the internet, unfortunately the date clicked back tot he day I was working on as i had scrolled down using my mouse roller. I was off to work and hadn't had a chance to check my email confirmation. Thankfully, the girls realised my mistake and rang me the next day and asked which day it was for really - I had put down that I would arrive by late afternoon, and considering that I would have to travel 5 hours to get there it was easy to see it as a mistake - thanks to the girls I was not charged an extra night! Apart from this mistake the booking was really easy logging onto www.premierlodge.com Several other options were available if the lodge you wanted to go to was unavailable.

Well we left Blackpool in the dark, and because of the illuminations were diverted out a different route to the one I wanted. This is when I realised that information of how to get there wasn't any use to us - hubby also useless at reading maps!! We did find the A6, eventually, but ended up going the wrong way up it, so when we reached the M6 had to work our way back down. We had gone about 15 mile out of our way! I would suggest that if you stay at this lodge, find it in the daylight first.

The car park was not big enough, which was not helped by some guests parking at angles so that others could not park between them. It wasn't clear if you could park in the pub car park either.

The reception area was very clean and tidy, and the staff very welcoming.

My two small children were sound asleep on arrival, so we went straight to the room. I was pleasantly surprised by the rather large bed, but dissapointed by the lack of pillows - one each. The kids beds were pull outs, and thankfully already set up for us. In the room there was, also plenty of tea and coffee for us, a television, a phone with modem points.

The bathroom was clean and tidy, plenty of towels for us to use. The soap was in a dispenser for use - Dove. The shower gel was also dispensed in a similar fashion. The shower itself was brilliant. You have use of a hairdryer in the room for after if you wish.

The Lodge is attached to a Chef and Brewer public house for your meals. However, we were unable to use the facilites in there that evening as they did not do any take away facilities, not even sandwiches! This was quite a disappointment. There was a vending machine with some snacks, but we needed a bit more that crisps and chocolate, so I ended up going to find a garage to buy sandwiches. Breakfast was £6.50 for traditional, £4.50 for continental and children under the age of 12 were able to eat absolutely free, when accompanied by a full paying adult. There was plenty to eat including cereals, fruit, toast, tea and coffee.

Checking out - oh dear the girl on the reception desk seemed to be in a fluster. I didn't bother counting how many times she apologised.

I was pleased with the room, but was glad it was only one night.

I've stayed in a few Premier Lodges and although I wasn't as impressed as I was with HIE it still served the purpose of a bed for the night after a night of drinking

We stayed at our first Premier Lodge in Carlisle last weekend and I was impressed overall.
